LONG DAY, WORTH DOING

A great day out although wonderful visibility of Mount Cook was a huge bonus. Not too many get that lucky. The scenery around Lakes Tekapo and Pukaki was sensational, the blue of their waters staggering. The hike, in my case out to the Tasman River, was well worth it. The trip was well and carefully timed but that was a big plus given the long road distance from Christchurch but sensible stops well planned en route made it comfortable. Our guide was extremely good in his informative commentary, avoiding the temptation to say too much. He was a superb driver while his provision of copious supplies of bottled water and snacks was hugely welcome. I really valued this side of his work. I enjoyed this day out immensely. It was a long day but absolutely well worth it.

Day was gorgeous and the lakes, mountains and glaciers were breathtaking. Anuj as a guide was fabulous,‘a he made sure everyone was taken care with timely breaks, snacks and water. Thoroughly enjoyed it and is a must do

This trip has such high ratings for a reason!!! Booking with viator was flawless and smooth. Viator kept us informed along the way and sent adequate reminders. I have never taken Viator for tours before and I will definitely plan to go with them again for future bookings. Most importantly our tour guide, Anuj was simply EXCELLENT. He was very considerate throughout the trip, he even had snacks, chocolates and water for us at the end of every stop so it was kinda fun to look forward to what he had for us when we got back to the van :-). He was clear and articulate in all his guidance, there was no confusion and no delays till the end. He was very willing to stop when needed and whoever wanted to. Just being so accommodative, considerate and wonderful when there are a bunch of us traveling from everywhere, speaks volumes about Anuj's experience. Hats off to him! We had not drawn cash ahead of time, that was a mistake, so we could not offer him some gratuity as a token of appreciation, we wished we did. Overall incredible experience! Would strongly recommend to anyone.

Day trip to the Mountains and Lakes.

I chose this tour because of the different areas that it included. Unfortunately the Lavender fields were not a stop, though when I read itinerary it looked like they were, stating you could get a photo in the fields. Nonetheless, it was a full day tour, about 13 1/2 hours and stopped at some amazing scenic spots, church of Good Shepherd, Lake Tekapo, Twizel and Mount Cook National park. The driver was excellent, spoke clearly and with enough detail to inform without overwhelming. They were always sure the group of 16 were looked after, bringing out snacks after most stops and water was readily available. The minibus was comfortable, however I'm small stature, some others would have liked a bit more room. Stops were numerous and driver was always on hand to answer questions. They were extremely well educated on the area and were always able to answer. There were opportunities to go for walks and it was outlined beforehand what was involved so passengers could decide whether to participate or not. I only had one minor complaint, the fact Mt Cook restaurant didn't take cash, but that wasn't anything to detract from the Tour which was excellent value for money. The timing of pickup/dropoff etc was spot on. I believe the driver was responsible for the easy way the tour was run and how it played out on the day.
