Westerkerk (Pass By)
The Westerkerk was built between 1620 and 1631 in Renaissance style according to designs by architect Hendrick de Keyser (1565-1621). He is buried in the church he designed earlier: the 'Zuiderkerk'. The building of the Westerkerk was finished and completed by his son Pieter de Keyser (1595-1676) and inaugurated on June 8, 1631. The church has a length of 58 meters and a width of 29 meters. The high nave is flanked by the two lower aisles. The three-aisled basilica has a rectangular plan with two transepts of equal dimensions. As a result, the plan for this church was given the form of two Greek crosses connected with each other.

Really good lots to see. It’s a nice 75 mins relaxing on the water. Good value for money and good when it was raining. We hadn’t planned to go on this but it was cheaper than we thought and so decided to go.

My wife and I took this wonderful 75 minute cruise immediately after arriving in Amsterdam. While I normally would not have done it right away, we did as part of a larger tour group. I now understand the value as you see and learn about things you might have missed on your own. It was a sunny and warm fall day so the cruise was perfect. See the photos and you'll understand why.

Beautiful, peaceful canal tour of Amsterdam. I loved the snack box, because it let me try some local foods like stroopwafel and paprika chips. This was a great activity to do on my first day, because I was still learning my way around and the boat tour didn't have a set time when I had to be there.
The museum was also close to the starting point and near a lot of other activities that I went back for later. Overall, a lovely introduction to Amsterdam.
