I thought the hike to the Materuni Falls was splendid. If you are looking for a daily activity around Arusha/Moshi and don’t feel like doing anything too strenuous, this activity is perfect. If the weather allows, you’ll get some great snapshots of the snowed out Kilimanjaro peak. The hike itself is beautiful through jungle landscapes and the waterfall is gorgeous. Highly recommend brining a towel and a swim suit, if you dare to dive into the cold waters. That feels particularly good after a solid “African massage” drive to get to the Materuni Village.
The coffee farm experiences is cool and a nice way to end the trip. You’ll hear about how they prepare the coffee at the villages, a little bit about the Chaga tribe and listen to some ritual songs. The coffee was pretty tasty!
The Chemka Waterfalls was perhaps the greatest of surprises. After a long drive through a super dry region of Arusha you get to the coolest hot springs ever. Great scenario and super fun environment. Saw a large and colorful lizard which contributed to the experience. Using the swing for a jump into the water is a must!
Our guide for the day organized by Suricata was Obby, and he was great. Fantastic experience with him.
Would recommend for anyone having an extra day around Arusha!
