Nice tour of old Manila and Chinatown. My guide Jerick and I did a walking tour through old Manila. Unfortunately most of it was destroyed during the war. However most buildings have been reconstructed in the same style as the original ones. One major exception was the church which is a highlight of the tour. Also we did a comprehensive tour of Fort Santiago built by the Spanish. Jerick walked me through the tragic history of events that happened at the fort including the massacre and also the execution of the man who became a national hero. There’s a wonderful and moving series of exhibits on his life and death by execution in the fort. We concluded our tour with a walk through Chinatown, and Jerick noted that Manila’s Chinatown is the oldest Chinatown in the world. It’s a vibrant area and I enjoyed a variety of delicious street food as we strolled around. An enjoyable experience!
