Overview

I would love to be your Tahoe local friend and lead you on a 2 mile hike to a beautiful overlook of Emerald Bay and the ENTIRE Lake Tahoe basin. In my 25 years of living here, I have explored many of the trails and much of shoreline around Tahoe and this vantage point is one of my favorites. Also available for the sunrise, sunset, and/or moonrise! Great for groups and team building. Beginner and kid friendly too. Intermediate-level hike available too. I am happy to try and accommodate mobility challenged/differently abled folks on the hike. The experience begins with a paved walk on a campground road. Then the trail turns to dirt with a slight incline for about ¼ mile until we get to the lookout point. If you are visiting Tahoe during the winter time, the hike will most likely be covered in snow. Snow boots or hiking boots will be needed. I can bring a sled to help tow the kiddos. The hike may be weather dependent due to heavy snowfall.

Meeting points

Park on the side of HWY 89, right outside the entrance to Upper Eagle Point Campground. It is free parking and there is usually 10-15 parking spots available.

Itinerary

Lake Tahoe is a world class destination known for its blue and turquoise water and surrounded by snow-capped mountains. This short 2 mile (3.2 kilometers) hike takes us out to lookout point above Emerald Bay and Lake Tahoe. We will have stunning views of Emerald Bay, Desolation Wilderness, Mt. Tallac, and a 360 degree view of the Lake Tahoe basin.

Breathtaking

Jen, was the most amazing guide, my wife and I did our first 2 mile hike and finished it very proud. Jen was very understandable that we were beginners, took our time went our pace, never rushed us, made sure we stopped to rest if we needed to. The views were just amazing, gave us some history. For being first time visitors to the Tahoe area even messaged us afterwards recommendations to eat and go sight seeing, all the pictures she took of the us and the hike were perfect and incredible. Lemonade and snacks were very good as well. I would definitely recommend anyone to take this hike with Jen

This was a delight of an experience; a first for us. We love the outdoors-but TX doesn’t have the elevation and sights like Lake Tahoe. Our well informed and easy going leader was fun to hike with. Jen provided lots of info and took plenty of great photos to share with us. There were many highlights and spots to take breaks. It was very informative and fun. Jen also provided a wonderful treat for us that included fresh home made lemonade, nuts, tasty strawberries, and a trail mix. It was exactly what we needed to finish the hike. What a wonderful day!

I really enjoyed this hike! It was easy and the stunning views were absolutely worth it! Jen is very informative about the area, history, wildlife and nature. She had a lot of good recommendations for exploring the Lake Tahoe area.

Jen is an amazing guide who made our experience fun and so memorable! We saw spectacular views from tucked away spaces without crowds. She is full of local knowledge and interesting information about Lake Tahoe and provided us with great recommendations for restaurants and other trails to explore. This adventure is a must do and was definitely a highlight of our trip!
