Please do not wait to meet our staff at London Euston Station as we do not conduct in-person departures. All tickets and information for the tour will be sent electronically in advance via email. Upon arrival at Oxenholme Station, a local guide will meet and greet on the platform.

Itinerary

  • Lake District National Park

    The tour starts in Windermere and heads towards the Langdale Valley, which is filled with heritage and farmland. On route to the Langdale valley you will drive along the famous Lake Windermere and our Driver/Guide will tell you many stories about our wonderful National Park..

  • Hawkshead

    Hawkshead is a charming medieval village full of narrow alleys and characterful squares. It is home to a grammar school which was established back in 1585 and where the famous English poet, William Wordsworth went to school. Overlooking the village on a hill, you can also find St Michael and All Angels Church, that has been there since 16th century. Whilst we're talking about Hawkshead we also must mention the delicious Hawkshead Relish Company, which is definitely worth a visit! Hawkshead is a village where you get a real sense of history and it is a great place to explore, which is why we include it in so many of our tours.

  • Hawkshead Grammar School Museum

    Hawkshead Grammar School in Hawkshead, Cumbria, England was founded in 1585 by Archbishop Edwin Sandys, of York, who petitioned a charter from Queen Elizabeth I to set up a governing body. The early School taught Latin, Greek and sciences, including arithmetic and geometry.

  • Bowness-on-Windermere

    Bowness-on-Windermere is a town in South Lakeland, Cumbria, England. Due to its position on the banks of Windermere, the town has become a tourist honeypot. After a busy day exploring, what better way to relax than with an English afternoon cream tea experience at the Lindeth Howe Country Hotel, once owned by Beatrix Potter herself? Afternoon cream tea Enjoy tea and scones, and soak in the views of some of the famous author's favourite countryside that provided the inspiration for her novels.

    You will have time to take in the stunning scenery at Coniston before heading to Tarn Howā€™s. Tarn Hows is another one of the Lake District's hidden gems. It has been the inspiration for many artists and writers and once you visit, you will understand why. After admiring the views, the tour will then take you to the final stop which is a trip to Hawkshead.

    Coniston is a beautiful village which is well known for Coniston Water and Donald Campbell CBE, who broke the world water speed record of 276mph. You might also catch a glimpse of a Steam Yacht Gondala that's a rebuilt Victorian steam powered yacht that offers cruises on Coniston Water.

    Relax & Enjoy A Scenic Cruise On England's Largest Lake.

  • Lake District

    Driving through the Langdaleā€™s you will experience some spectacular views, including views of the Langdale Pikes. The Langdale Pikes are iconic and the most easily recognisable peaks in the Lake District. The Langdaleā€™s are where you will usually find many native Herdwick Sheep, as they stroll across road and lay out in the fields, it really is a fantastic photo opportunity.

  • Hill Top, Beatrix Potter's House

    Famous lakeland home of Beatrix Potter. (The property is not open Fridays outside of the UK school holidays or between November - February). When Hill Top is closed we will visit the World Of Beatrix Potter in Bowness to learn more about the author and the characters she created.

  • Return: Train departs Oxenholme: 18:30 (18:26 Sat) / arrives at London Euston at 21:20
  • Your electronic tickets and vouchers will be sent to you 7 days prior to your scheduled departure date via email (or, if booked within one week then within 24 hours of booking). We would recommend arriving at Euston Station 30 minutes before your scheduled train departure
  • Please note that the train journey is unescorted. On arrival at Oxenholme station in the Lake District you you will be met by your tour guide and start your Lake District guided tour
  • Child age: 5-11 yrs inclusive (Children under the age of 5 are not permitted on this Tour)
  • Itinerary is subject to operational and seasonal variations
  • We will make every effort to fulfil any requests you have for seating on the train however this cannot be guaranteed
  • Hill Top House, home of Beatrix Potter, is not open Fridays outside of the UK school holidays or between November - February. When Hill Top is closed we will visit the World Of Beatrix Potter in Bowness.
  • Hill Top Farm is closed for winter From 1st November 2024 to 15th February 2025. This tour visits the World of Beatrix Potter during this time.
  • Please advise us of any special dietary requirements at least 7 days prior to travel
