Overview

Join us to a fishing village where local fishermen will invite us to meet enormous and spectacular live King crabs face to face. During this scenery tour you will also enjoy fantastic views of the Altafjord and its islands Årøya, Stjernøya and Seiland. At the same time you will learn about local culture and history and will bring back home memories for life holding King crabs.

Itinerary

After a 45 minutes drive through splendid landscapes, passing lakes, the beautiful Kviby valley and the spectacular Skjillefjord we will arrive to the authentic fishing village of Storekorsnes. Here you will meet a local fisherman who will tell us the story of the king crabs, how this enormous creature came into the area of Storekorsnes and how do they fish it. As part of this activity you will meet live King crabs in a 3,000 litre aquarium that they have on their pier. If you like, you can hold a live king crab for photographing. After the activity you will be invited to a cosy and small restaurant with fjord view where you will taste a delicious local fish soup with a taste of King crab beside. We will spend here approximately 2,5 hours and you will have free time to walk around and photograph this pictoresque fishing village. The tour back to your pickup place will take approximately 45 minutes driving by beautiful fjord landscapes and Arctic nature. Please be aware that this activity is not wheelchair accessible.

  • Choose Alta Havn (Alta Harbour) as your pick up place if you are coming to Alta by cruise ship. Our guide will be there looking for you at the parking place with a black minibus.
