During this full day tour, your first destination will be the well known UNESCO world heritage Kinderdijk, with its unique collection of 19 authentic windmills. Next is the royal town of The Hague with an included visit to one of the must-sees: - The Mauritshuis museum; home from some of the best Dutch paintings from the Golden Age, such as Vermeer’s Girl with a Pearl earring.  - Escher in Het Paleis; a museum located in a former palace covering the works of one of the most famous graphic artists: M.C. Escher. - Madurodam; a small city full of beautiful miniatures, playful activities and the best attractions.  

Itinerary

  • World Heritage Kinderdijk

    A visit to Kinderdijk gives you the extraordinary opportunity to visit a UNESCO World Heritage in Holland. In 1997, the windmill complex of Kinderdijk was added to the prestigious UNESCO World Heritage list because of its unique character. UNESCO considers the polder area with its dykes, mills and pumping stations to be proof of human inventiveness in reclaiming and protecting the land. This is worldwide recognition of the fact that this unique area must be preserved for the future. At arrival in Kinderdijk your personal guide will take you to the visitors centre, situated in an old pumping station. Watch the film about the Kinderdijk area before walking through the area. If possible, you will visit a working windmill from the inside (depending on how busy it is).

    At arrival in The Hague you will do a city tour in the minivan to see all these highlights and a stop will be made for lunch before enjoying an included visit to ONE of the 3 cultural highlights of The Hague (the choice is yours).

Kinderdijk windmills

The guide was very knowledgeable about the city and gave us a bunch of fun facts along the way. The windmills and surrounding area was beautiful. I enjoyed The Hague museum option afterwards. Girl with a pearl earring painted was breath taking. I would 100% recommend this tour

very nice welcoming by the personnel, always ready to help, very good location next to the bloemenmarkt , and as a solo traveller very practical to have a single room with single bed available, nice lounge downstairs with big tv screen

'Jan" is back after his 3 mo recovery and in full lively form! I had one of the best tours ever with Viator because of Jan (John). He was a wonderful driver and guide during the 9 hours and shared tons of interesting information about the Netherlands. I was sad when the day was over. I'm glad I got to go to Kinderdijk, is a few hours outside of Amsterdam. Kinderdijk is historically 'the' windmill area and I loved seeing inside a windmill that housed a large family 100 years ago. How 13 kids could have lived in it was beyond me, but the picture of the family was on the windmill wall and the family was quite self sufficient. Onward, we drove to the Hague and got to see Embassies and beautiful homes. Another highlight was time at the Mauritshuis Museum and at last I saw the real painting of 'Girl With the Pearl Earring'. It was a wonderful tour ( I've give this tour more stars if I could) because it was a knock out with Jan back at the helm as driver and guide with his lively sense of warm humor and fun. Thank You!
