The palace and the lake were renovated and expanded in the 18th century by Maharaja Jai Singh II of Amber. The palace is a beautiful five-story building constructed out of red sandstone.

The temple, located 10 kilometers east of Jaipur in the Aravalli Hills near a mountain pass, is known for its natural springs and the opportunity to see and feed monkeys that live freely in the forest. Bathing in the springs is considered lucky, particularly on Makar Sankranti. Due to the large monkey population, it is also called 'The Monkey Temple.'
