We got to this company through the DoubleTree Hilton, which no longer has a concierge who recommends tours. Instead, they give you the website for this company, and you can choose your own. This half-day tour of El Yunque Rain Forest delivered exactly what we wanted. Our native Puerto Rican guide, Diana, was fluent in English and ran an excellent, safe tour. In late November, there were eight of us in the van (four groups of two) and some seats left over. On our way, she used the PA system in the van to give us a fine introduction to Puerto Rican geography and culture. She then drove us up the El Yunque forest roads, stopping at scenic spots to allow us to take photos. She parked the van at about 2,000 feet in altitude and then led us on a not-too-demanding trail up to the 2,300-foot level, showing herself fairly expert on forest ecology. The tour finishes with a swim (not obligatory) in the mountain stream. For that part, the van is parked in a guarded lot so you can feel free to leave your wallet in your backpack locked in the van, which is probably safer than taking cash/credit cards down to the rocky banks of the stream since no backpacks are permitted in the area of the stream. All in all a really well thought-through tour delivered by an expert guide. Don’t leave Puerto Rico without seeing the rain forest!
