Overview

Ran-Tong is devoted to rescuing abused elephants from all over Thailand and surrounding countries. Every elephant rescued is brought to the sanctuary in Chiang Mai and cared for with great passion and enthusiasm. Our mission is not only geared towards the protection and prevention of abused Elephants in Thailand but also to educate the public about their long history within Thai culture. Founded in 2009, Ran-Tong has rescued over 40 elephants to date with the help of public generosity, support, and private donation they can continue their ongoing vital work. Our priority is animal welfare. At Ran-Tong Save & Rescue Elephant Centre, you will completely get to learn a lot about elephants and have a memorable experience with them.

Itinerary

ITINERARY - Pick you up from your hotel/accommodation in Chiang Mai city. - Drives approximately 1 hour to Ran-Tong Save & Rescue Elephant Centre in Mae Taeng District. - On arrival, you will change to Mahout Style Karen clothes and start your elephant school where you will learn all about the centre and these incredible creatures. - Make vitamins for the elephants including pregnant, injured, and old elephants. - Meet the elephants, walk with them, take a bath for them and observe them in their natural habitat. - Say goodbye to the elephants and change your clothes. - Lunch/Dinner - Thai food, seasonal fruits, and drinking water. - Leave Ran-Tong Save & Rescue Elephant Centre and go back to your hotel/accommodation in Chiang Mai city. **You should bring spare clothes, comfortable shoes, sandals that you do not mind getting wet and dirty, shampoo and soap, a camera, mosquito spray or insect repellent.

Paradise for Elephsnts

Animals are much loved and well taken care of. Our host was excellent explaining everything as we went along and assisting us in the feeding and washing of these beautiful animals. We were served an excellent dinner at the end, which was included in the price. Highly recommend and half day was the right amount of time.

Pre booked excursion from Toronto, Rontang Sanctuary is very humbling excursion especially if you love animals these 8 elephants of different ages were a joy to be with for almost 2.5 hrs, get ready for elephants Dyson kissing, hugging, feeding and bathing these cheeky elephants. Breath taking natural environment and surroundings. Once you arrive you change into local pants and tops, wash your hands to avoid cross contamination with elephants. Interact with elephants they are gentle giants. Vegetarian lunch was delicious eat as much as you want. Finally, one regerate we had we missed tipping the Mahoots, the elephant trainers please, please, please tip them first.

The activity was very good, the journey was comfortable and the interaction with the animals was very nice. The only thing that needs improvement is the dinner, since the fruit is good but the Pad Thai was a bit greasy and irritating, it was too much for us, but apart from that everything was fine.

Truly magical experience! The drive was about an hour, nice to see the surrounding towns as we left Chiang Mai. Hotel pick up was smooth too! There are 10 elephants in total, mostly rescued from logging / working conditions on the Laos border. Our guide Siri was educational, kind and funny! This really did feel like a sanctuary where they are promoting awareness and education about safety measures for animals that have already been domesticated and need to have a safe environment to grow old in. A few baby elephants, one who kissed my cheek, an experience like no other!! Opportunities to feed them, get them to trust you and take photos of their incredibly peaceful presence. We opted not to bathe, but it was hilarious to see other folks get sprayed from the elephants trunk! We chose the afternoon half day, which felt like the perfect amount of time. This experience will likely be the most memorable experience from this whole trip, highly recommend!
