We had an absolute blast on this tour and are so glad we went for it! After digging through a ton of options, I decided to roll the dice on Jhoraji instead of the pricier packages the airline and hotel were pushing—and wow, what a win! Smaller group, way more affordable, and just as fun (if not better).
Franklin, our guide, was an absolute gem—super knowledgeable and hilarious. He kept us laughing and learning with his jokes and fascinating tidbits about Dominican culture and history. The tour was packed with awesome experiences: free horseback riding, a tasty lunch, browsing the local market and souvenir shops, sipping Dominican wine, tasting and learning about chocolate and coffee, rolling cigars at a cigar factory, admiring the stunning Higuey Basilica, and snapping pics at the beautiful Macao Beach.
Quick heads-up: you might not have enough time for a proper swim at the beach, but you could snap some pics. Although they call it a “half-day tour,” it’s closer to a full-day adventure—we got picked up around 7:30 am and were back at the hotel by 4:30 pm.
Huge shoutout to Sandy, our driver, and Tito, the tour coordinator plus all the amazing staff at the spots we visited. Everyone was super friendly and made sure we had an unforgettable experience. If you want to see the real Dominican Republic without breaking the bank, this tour is an absolute must!
