Gold pan near a salmon stream in Seward. Learn the art of panning for Alaskan gold in the elevated troughs. This 1-hour activity is family friendly.

    The canvas-covered log framed structure where we pan for gold is located just across from our walking bridge, between our office and the gift shop. Depending on the salmon run, we can often spy salmon in the creek. The covered troughs allow us to stay dry while panning, which makes this the perfect activity, rain or shine!

We were looking for a fun thing to do in Seward, and we found it. It was also informational and gave us more appreciation for the rugged souls who came Alaska for the gold rushes. Overall, a nice experience for all ages.

This was an informative, fun, experience. The panning was fun and was done at table height…easy on the back. The guides were young and enthusiastic and made the experience enjoyable. Each person gets a bag of soil with gold flakes and other gem stones so you are assured of finding something!
