Explore the whales, wildlife, and glaciers of Kenai Fjords National Park on this thrilling 7.5 hour cruise. Enjoy the extra time on the water as you get up-close views of wildlife such as orca whales, humpback whales, sea otters, Steller sea lions, puffins, and more. Visit two active tidewater glaciers and watch for calving, where giant chunks of ice break off and crash into the water. Visit the Chiswell Islands or Cape Resurrection, home to Steller sea lion colonies and thousands of nesting seabirds. Onboard captain narration and complimentary deli lunch for all guests.

Itinerary

  • Major Marine Tours (Pass By)

    This 7.5 Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise departs daily at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 5:00 p.m. The cruise will travel approximately 130 miles roundtrip through Resurrection Bay into Kenai Fjords National Park. Since this cruise does go out into the open Gulf of Alaska it is not recommended for anyone who is prone to motion sickness. Our half-day Resurrection Bay cruises are much better options if motion sickness is a concern.

  • Kenai Fjords National Park (Pass By)

    This 7.5 Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise departs daily at 9:30 a.m. and returns at 5:00 p.m. The cruise will travel approximately 130 miles roundtrip through Resurrection Bay into Kenai Fjords National Park.

  • Resurrection Bay (Pass By)

    We will cruise through the protected waters of Resurrection Bay, searching for wildlife and and enjoying spectacular scenery.

  • Bear Glacier (Pass By)

    We will cruise by Bear Glacier, a piedmont glacier and the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park.

  • Holgate Glacier (Pass By)

    Our next stop is Holgate Glacier, another actively calving tidewater glacier. We will spend approximately 20 minutes in front of each glacier, floating among the icebergs as we watch for spectacular calving.

    After cruising through Resurrection Bay, we will round Cape Aialik (pronounced “I-al-ik) into Aialik Bay. As we cruise into Aialik Bay you will get your first glimpse of Aialik Glacier, an active tidewater glacier. We will stop in front of the glacier and watch for calving, where large chunks of glacial ice break off and crash in to the water.

    Depending on the weather, we will cruise to the Chiswell Islands or Cape Resurrection, home to thousands of nesting Alaskan seabirds like puffins, kittiwakes, and cormorants. The captain will stop the boat very close to the nesting areas of the seabirds, which provides great photo opportunities. We will also visit Steller sea lion colonies, where Steller sea lions gather on the rugged, rocky coastline. Sea otters, bald eagles, and mountain goats are also commonly seen along the route.

Special and unique experience!

My girlfriend and me went on a 7,5 hours tour on 29th August. The trip start on time and you can fell how this is very professional service from the start. Staff even helpt me with a parking, and the service on board was excellent also. On whole trip some of the staff is going around too check is everybody ok, because of potential sea sickness, and captain all the way explain secif8c nature and wildlife situation that you are currently observing. On whole trip the best and most exciting moments was when we saw humpback whale! At this time if the year it is not easy to see whales, but we were blessed to see humpback whale jumo from the water! Crazy, so beautiful and unique moment! Unforgettable! And whale jumped 5 times, in a half an hour searching and fallawing whale by captain! Another highlight are glachers, and this is also so special that the whale trip is one of best experiences that I ever had! Must do!

Tour not to be missed. We really had great time and we got a good view of the glaciers and enjoyed the ride on the ocean as well.

Kenai Fjords Major Marine Tour - 4 hrs. was plenty and AMAZING!!

The 7 hr. tour we were set up for had to be cancelled or changed to a 4 hr. tour due to 15' swales further out. If this happens to you, don't fret. A hump back whale and about 8-9 orcas didn't like the swales either and came in further to our boat, so we missed nothing. OK, we may have missed seeing an iceberg, but absolutely nothing else. The crew were amazing, and we saw over 20 waterfalls, 5-6 eagles, otters, seals, seagulls, and had a FABULOUS experience. People kept apologizing for the rainy weather, but we didn't go to Alaska expecting to see sunshine and beaches. We experienced Alaska in September by train, planes, buses and this boat trip. Soooo glad we didn't waste our 'once in a lifetime trip' on a cruise ship. We would have missed soooo much! Thanks again for such a great time! Super cool trip!! The captain was so nice and experienced. Took us to plenty of beautiful spots. That was a really fun and unforgetable experience for my whole life.

I can't say enough good things about this experience! Fabulous customer service, as I emailed with many questions before and after booking and they were so thorough and patient. We came to Seward by cruise ship and were leaving that evening by train. Major Marine staff were waiting for us as we exited our cruise ship - they tagged our luggage, loaded it (and us) in the van and transported us to the hotel. While we were on the tour, they transported our luggage to the train for us - seamless experience. Now for the tour - amazing views and so relaxing! The crew (I think it was Justin, Scott, Marissa and Rebecca) were fabulous! The lunch was really good too! Two weeks in Alaska and this was one of our favorite experiences!
