Itinerary
Our fishing experience takes approximately 7 hours on our 10-meter wooden fishing boat that can take up to 10 people.
We welcome you onboard with Greek coffee & handmade snack.
We first head to a fishing location depending on the winds and weather conditions. There you watch Captain Yiannis pull up the nets or fishing line, which he dropped earlier in the morning. You can help if you want and ask questions. You can also fish on your own using a fishing pole or handline if you wish. Or you can just sunbathe on the deck, read your book, and enjoy the magnificent views of the island.
We will then head to a secluded location where you can swim or snorkel. All locations we visit can only be reached privately so you can experience crystal-clear waters.
While you swim Captain Yiannis prepares the meal on the boat using the catch of the day.
We will then offer a lunch of homemade greek delicacies and of course truly fresh fish grilled, fried, or a fisherman's soup depending on the catch.
A glass of wine or beer is on us and all refreshments, water, and fruit are included. So, you will enjoy a full homemade lunch with the freshest organic ingredients
The boat has a cabin for two & a WC.

A unique and unforgettable experience

Fishing with Yiannis is an absolute must for anyone visiting Hydra. You are welcomed onto the both of Yiannis and Katerina with open arms and are treated with the ultimate Greek hospitality. From the care and consideration they give you whilst travelling to tell you the ins and outs of the landscapes to the insight into traditional fishing techniques - the experience is unique! You receive breakfast, lunch (including your catch from the day) and fresh fruit. Snorkelling and swimming too makes this a day we wont forget. Thank you both so so so much - i had such a wonderful birthday!
A day with Moby Dick

Leaving the harbour we soon see a whale quietly sitting on the water. It is not long before we understand it is trying to hide from Captain Achab who is really nearby.
We are sailing between islets and islands a magic for the unfamiliar. Slowly putt-putting closer to the fishing area next to Moby’s side. Yannis picks up his lines. There’s very little bait left on the hooks but quite a few “congres” and “red snappers” (not sure about the exact species, I ll have to go back). Lunch is cooked on the boat: fresh catch, fava spiced up, salad and plenty of white wine from Yannis’ friend.
On the way back to Hydra we pass kayakers finishing circum navigating the Mediterranean (cf pix) the last surprise of the day.
A very special experience

We had a fantastic experience on the boat, seeing spots that we wouldn’t normally be able to see and learning all about the island from Katerina. It was a very special time with the most lovely and authentic meal to top it off. I would recommend the trip as an essential to anyone coming to hydra.

Would recommand this activity for anyone that want to experience Hydra from the sea. We were in Hydra for a day, during our cruise tour around the greek islands. It was the perfect experience to end our cruise. Katerina and Yiannis were waiting for us when we got off the boat, we sailed along the island of Hydra, catch plenty of fish, snorkelled in pue crystal water. We got to eat the fish we catched. The food was delicious, the experience was amazing and Katerina and Yiannis were wonderful.

We loved fishing, swimming and eating afterwards the fish we caught. It’s the most unique experience someone can have in the island of Hydra. It was so worth it! Giannis was extremely kind and explained everything the whole day. He is an amazing cook also! Will not forget his fava!!
