At first glance, you might think Aegina town is modest, but with our fascinating and revealing walking tour, you will discover many impressive facts about this beautiful and charming town that has been inhabited since Neolithic times!
We meet at Aegina's tiny landmark church dedicated to Saint Nicholas, who is Greece's patron saint of sailors. Stroll through shaded and picturesque streets past a local gallery, boutique, antique shops, a local olive oil supplier, as well as local craft workshops. Discover historical landmarks, such as the Tower of Markello, the house of modern-day Greece's first governor, Ioannis Kapodistrias who had many positive impacts on Aegina, and hear the fascinating story of Aegina's beautifully built stone orphanage.
We will wind down and relax with a typical Greek coffee at a traditional kafenion enjoying an amazing view of Aegina's port!

The Tower was housed in 1826 by Kapodistrias' government, he was the first governor of modern-day Greece. Discover the great impact he had on Aegina, as well as Greece. HE lived here until the Governor's Residence, known as the "Palace of Barbayannis" was built.

Walking tour with a lot of surprising insights

The waking tour was amazing. We walked around the center of Aegina town and while we were seeing different great buildings and areas of the old town we learned a lot of fascinating insights. Out tour guide Eleni was very friendly and had a lot of deeper inside knowledge about the history of Aegina. There is also a Greek coffee included in the price. ;)

Our tour guide, Sarah, was an absolute delight. We were having trouble locating the meeting point at the gate of Aegina and she accommodated us at a different spot. She was friendly, knowledgeable, and a blessing to meet. She knew many locals we came across and provided tips on the best places to shop and dine. I would highly recommend taking this tour on your first day in town instead of your last like we did. It's a beautiful island with lots of history to learn.

Our guide revealed the historical buildings and the port history and also recent discoveries, which indicated the importance of the port. Great insight into the town and local history, even met local artist who specialises in religious paintings.

I really enjoyed this interesting walking tour of the small town of Aegina. Such fascinating sites and facts, were brought in a fun and engaging way by a great tour guide. Will book the Discovery tour as well!

I was pleasantly surprised by this great walking tour! The history of Aegina is fascinating and I learned so much whilst we explored and meandered down the streets with local highlights. Loved it and would never have found all the sights by myself and you can't get the same experience from a book! The Greek mezze at the end was a perfect ending to the tour. Well done.
