Clear filterEl - Alamein day trip

I had the El Alamein war museum and cemetery tour and it was great. The guide; Mohab Ahmed was really informative and knowledgeable and couldn't do enough to make me feel welcome and relaxed. The tour price included water throughout the day and a really nice lunch upon return to cairo aswell as all the tolls en route. The driver Ahmed was very professional and did a great job getting us there safely. If you like history (WW2) then this tour is definetly worth checking out, and a great way to see more of Egypt beyond Cairo. Would definetly recommend to others, and ask for Mohab for a really great guide that knows all about the surrounding areas.
A long rewarding day, with history and reflection

Great tour. Got to pay our respects at the Al Alamein war cemetery, and view the military hardware recovered from the battles. Alexandria was a must see, with our guide Muhammad Makawy pointing out the Roman, Greek influence in the Egyptian architecture and symbolism. The catacombs were interesting, and I really enjoyed pompey column and the citadel. The great light house marble in the citadel was a highlight. It's a long day, but sun pyramid tours made it enjoyable. Thank you.
Very nice visit to Al Alamein

Great trip to Al Alamein from Cairo. Despite being far from Cairo, the trip was very pleasant. Our guide told us many stories about Egypt from the time of the monarchy. Also, in addition to water, he offered us seeds to eat on the way. At first I thought it was strange to eat seeds, but when I realized I had eaten almost all of them. Our guide was very patient and took us everywhere despite the rain. About the history of the war itself, the guide didn't have much knowledge, but he got someone to guide us in the museum. I found this attitude great because some guides, when they don't master a subject, tend to lie. And in his case, he was honest and helpful. On the way back we stopped in Cairo for lunch before heading back to the hotel. Overall the tour was very pleasant. Great guide and great driver. I recommend to anyone who enjoys the history of the Second World War to take the tour with this tourist agency.
The Best Tour Saved For My Last Day in Egypt.

Through Orbitz, I signed up for Sun Pyramids Tours “Private El-Alamein Day Tour from Cairo”. Since I try to learn history from primary sources, I was interested in the WWII events that occurred near El-Alamein, approximately 3 hour drive from Cairo. I was fortunate to have Mohamed Alfayed as my guide today as I experienced the events from almost 80 years ago. The memorials to the fallen soldiers were moving and remind us of the significant toll taken on those serving from the “Commonwealth” countries. Often missing in the discussion of who won and lost is the realization that those who died fighting for the Axis Powers, were also husbands, fathers and sons to families back home. Mohamed provided additional background and insights to bring these elements to light and set the stage for the visit to the El-Alamein Military Museum. A wonderful combination of historical artifacts and video presentations, the contributions of the various counties involved in the events surrounding El-Alamein were described, illustrated and put in context. Mohamed also emphasized the important role played by the Egyptian troops, both in supply logistics and combat, a contribution often overlooked by academics, but not by someone who grew up in the shadow of where the history took place and with direct family connections to those who participated. The tour finished with a wonderful lunch, included in the price, with more delicious food than I could eat. As I reflect back on the events of this day, it does not get much better than this tour. Thank you Mohamed.
