Overview

Swimming with wild Dolphins and Seals in the sheltered shallow waters of Port Phillip Bay. Discovering the weedy sea dragons and cruising aboard a luxury tour boat taking in the amazing coast line of southern Port Phillip Bay.

Meeting points

Your tour boat is located at the end of Sorrento Pier, walk to the end and your tour guides will be waiting to greet you.

Itinerary

Meet us at Sorrento Pier, collect your equipment and board the luxury ‘Moonraker.’ Once onboard we cruise into the bay your snorkel guides walk you through the activities and familiarising you with the boat. We firstly visit the shallow waters filled with seals of all ages and sizes, you will come face to face with these inquisitive animals and this experience is something that you will remember for life. Once back onboard we serve lunch, ensuring you’re energised and ready for our next snorkel. Once the dolphins are located we observe their behaviour and location before we approach the pod. In small groups of 10, we slide into the water, floating on the surface. We wait, for the dolphin's squeaks and whistles to get louder, a sign that they will join us and swim. Each encounter is totally unique, sometimes they will swim around us for endlessly other times they will glide past for a look and continue swimming, We spend as much time as possible swimming and sightseeing but need to ensure we are not changing their behaviour or lifestyle. The dolphins are resident to Port Phillip Bay, should you not see the dolphins you are welcome to come back for free anytime within 30 days.

  • Swimming tours do not cater for people with no swimming ability, all guests are required to have basic swimming ability as a minimum.
  • Tours are weather dependent and rely on suitable safe conditions. All tours are operated on the basis of interacting with wild animals. You are asked to appreciate that they are completely wild and are not trained to interact with people. All tours operate on a high 90% success rate of swimming and interacting with the Dolphins however you cannot be guaranteed to see them on every tour. Should you not see them you are welcome to come back any time within 3 months of your last tour for free. No refunds available.

Dolphin day

We had a fantastic day with a family of five. We were lucky enough to see a lot of dolphins on the day and even luckier to get to swim with them. Great day and the weather was fab which made it more special. Crew on board were also great

I traveled with two friends and we absolutely love this tour. The staff were really lovely and really helpful and the boat was awesome, lots of space, toilets one had a shower to rinse off and there’s a cafe/bar where you can buy snacks if you need, although lunch is included! They had lots of new wetsuits and as it was October the water and air was cold so they had thermal jackets for over our wetsuits. I thought this was a great tour and we really had a good time. Value, fun and we got what we paid for plus more.

A must trip for every family . Incredibly good and helpful crew who helped my son to swim with seals and dolphins regardless of his limited abilities This 3 hour tour will take your sea life adventure to the next level

I chose the sightseeing tour with my parents, we saw the groups of dolphins swimming just behind the boat! Took tons of photos of them. Lots of fun! The staffs are friendly and the food is delightful. Definitely will recommend to my friends and come back for swimming tour.

Disabled.. Do it!

I took two disabled people on this trip and we could not have had a better time. The crew and particularly Jules were amazing. As a carer you know everyone has different needs, and the crew listened to me and helped only how and when appropriate. Nothing was too much trouble. Often crew on these adventures are condescending, but Jules the lady that worked on the boat was having such a great time and her sun shone on us all. Gus, you are awesome too :) Thanks Moonraker.
