Researching guides for our trip to Xi'an, my daughter and I discovered the gem that is Wendy. Responsive, timely communication and as we were to find out when we met her - effervescent personality, resourceful can do attitude, wonderful sense of humour, good with people of all ages and most of all a treasure trove of knowledge about everything Xi'an. Wendy made Xi'an come alive for us with dramatic flair! Despite not being fluent in Mandarin we were able to develop a much deeper understanding of the places we visited thanks to her. Our day spent with her to see the Terracotta Army, Big Goose Pagoda, Reborn Army show and Silk Road show was so enjoyable it was over way too soon. Yet she made us feel completely at ease and it never felt rushed. It felt like being guided by a family member rather than someone we just met. Wendy goes above and beyond what you would expect of a guide. Literally nothing is too much trouble for her. We were particularly impressed by her caring nature, in the special way she took care of me (I have mobility issues and travel in a wheelchair) and easily navigated obstacles I faced such as stairs, uneven terrain and non-accessible areas. She arranged for an experienced driver and comfortable SUV transport, located accessible ramps, elevators, toilets and even helped me get around in my wheelchair - all with patience and professionalism. This ensured our itinerary went smoothly and in the best way possible. After our day with her was over, Wendy continued to check in with us for the rest of our trip to provide recommendations, information and any assistance we required to fully experience the city. In our opinion, this is the single unique quality that sets Wendy apart from the many guides we have known throughout our extensive travels. We can truly say we met as guide and clients, but parted as good friends. If you are looking for the best guide here, look no further. Wendy IS your definitive Xi'an guide.
