Overview

Participating in a cooking course does not only mean learning new local recipes, but also deepening the true culture, customs and habits of a food type. - Starting from the Market, where the most important phase takes place. Guide to the right qualitative purchase: Selection of "Zero Kilometer" products, knowledge of the fresh seasonal product and deepening on the various types of use in the kitchen. -At work! Back at the restaurant all the participants will participate in the foreground throughout the preparation of Sicilian recipes, in a home-style just as per Sicilian tradition. Appetizers, first courses and second courses will be created with great family harmony all with a breathtaking view! -It's ready! After the preparation, the participants will sit in their seats to start the lunch prepared by them accompanied by two local homemade wines. -See you later! participants will receive a gift and the recipes of the lesson.

We had a great experience touring New York City with Jonathan. He's a great tour guide and he made it very memorable and enjoyable. An Experience Worth Repeating

Massimo was an excellent teacher and so easy to get along with. Although he has an accent, he was very easy to understand. He taught about food selection and how to cook it, both were excellent. The setting was beautiful; a nice walk before we got into cooking. Although there were 12, we all got to participate. Lots more food than we could eat; definitely a full meal! Would do it again.

This was a great day in beautiful Taormina. I would not recommend for young teens or younger because you are preparing food with sharp knives and the timing of the experience. For adults and older teens, it is appropriate. We met by the gate and then walked to the local stores nearby to buy our produce, fish and meat for lunch. We walked down the steps to his home, got washed up , put our aprons on, and got to work. It is a small group - 12 people - so everyone is chatting and enjoying the magnificent views from his home high on the hill looking out over the sea. Everything was spotless. Chef Massimo is a wonderful host and explained everything we needed to do. He said he would email us all of the recipes !! We can’t wait to try these dishes at home. We had the best time making our pasta and meatballs! He also had us prepare the fish for cooking as well. A lady works with the Chef to help us if needed, keeps the prep moving, and cleans up as we go. We had some wine and Prosecco and enjoyed our fabulous meal at a large table. My husband and son enjoyed the prep and the meal very much too. The morning flies into afternoon as we enjoyed course after course of our lunch. We were there Jan 2025 right after New Year’s. It was a fun way to be with other travelers, and share our travel experiences, and a great meal. If you are in Taormina, as you know, you are on a mountain and need to be able to climb steps and or hills up and down to get around for your visit. If you can’t walk well, he did say, that he he would call a cab if needed because it is some walking each way to and from the house. Everything was delicious!

Our cooking class and lunch with Chef Massimo was a highlight of our week in Sicily with Road Scholar. Under the careful supervision of Chef, we made pasta, caponata, and more, then ate outside on his covered deck. The setting is beautiful, with dramatic ocean views.

Chef Massimo - Must Do Experience in Taormina !

We spent 10 days in Taormina on a cooking tour of Sicily. Four of those days included classes with Chef Massimo at his cooking school overlooking the beautiful Ionian Sea. We made a different kind of pasta in each class, including ravioli, fettucine, gnocchi and maccheroni. The pasta making (and eating) and the Meatballs in Lemon Leaf were highlights for me!
