Overview

Our Traditional Cooking class in Genoa will allow you to learn the best Ligurian and Genovese recipes sided by local professionals in the field. Hands-on the job you will be guided in the preparation of traditional recipes from Genoa and Liguria. Our cooking class and tasting is an all-around experience. We believe that the cooking class with tasting is successful when our guests test themselves cooking, learning, sharing their experiences and having fun. Therefore, we have a 2-people minimum and a 10-people maximum. If the minimum number of guests is not reached, we will contact you to reschedulethe class at another time or day. The class and tasting include: at least 4 recipes with preparation and tasting, and one tasting more (artisanal gelato). Water, wine or beer (in limited amounts) are included. Everything else is not included.

Itinerary

We chose the most loved traditional recipes, following the suggestions of local master chefs and we will share their secrets for amazing preparations with you. What you can expect to learn (and taste!) during our Genovese & Ligurian Traditional Cooking class: Testaroli (fresh pasta), pesto sauce, Focaccia with cheese, canestrelli (typical cookie of Genoa).

classic basil Pesto sauce was born in Genoa. You will have the chance to taste the authentic recipe made of local fresh basil and pine nuts!

2 very thin layers of dough filled with "Stracchino", (a typical soft cheese from Recco, a small village next to Genoa).

Canestrelli

handmade biscuits from Torriglia (small village on the beautiful hills behind Genova). Shaped as small flowers and prepared with simple ingredients

A Wonderful and Memorable Experience!

The cooking class was so fun and a great way to learn more about popular dishes in Genova! Our class was small and Veronica was an amazing host! She even gave us some recommendations to do with the rest of our day and let us know of any transportation issues we may encounter. The restaurant really made it fun to get involved in the cooking process and allowed us to be creative with our cookies and our pesto. I would definitely recommend it! Great way to start any day.

Absolutely loved our time! Our chef and guide were so fun, friendly, and welcoming. We hand-made authentic Italian foods and had a blast while doing so!

Our cooking class at Locanda Tortuga was everything that we had hoped for. The restaurant venue was amazing. Veronica was a very friendly and engaging host. The chef, Bernardo, was a great instructor. He was entertaining, funny, and his passion for food was infectious. The food we prepared was delicious. Can’t wait to make it at home. It was a true local experience.

The chef Bernando was lot of fun and made the experience really enjoyable. We really got a sense of what it was like to live in that area and to experience a local, Family-owned restaurant. Tour guide also was also very friendly and we appreciated her knowledge and commentary about The food and culture of Genova.
