Overview

In this tour you will have a direct contact with the real life of the farmers that still live from the traditions of their relatives, in a town located just 1 hour from the city, once at the cocoa family farm you’ll learn from first hand everything from the cocoa process, also how they grow some other products like, coffee, avocado, yuca, some fruits and flowers. In the time at the farm sharing with the farmers you’ll be witness of all the process to transform cocoa into chocolate, picking, peeling, fermenting, drying, roasting, grinding, molding and tasting different varieties like hot chocolate, cocoa nibs and cocoa paste, also you can buy some to take home with you and the best is that it’s made by yourself.     We’ll start the tour picking you up at your lodging in a comfortable vehicle with a/c, to start the 1 hour ride to the cocoa farm

  • Copacabana

    In this experience we’ll visit a small family cocoa farm, where you’ll interact with the farmers and will be witness of the entire process from the cocoa before turning into chocolate You’ll pick, peel, ferment, dry, roast, grind and mold. Then you’ll be able to taste hot chocolate, paste of cocoa, cocoa nibs and will make some chocolates than you can buy to take home.

An eye-opener experience!

I had never realized that making chocolate (as in good, dark, organic chocolate) could be 1/ so hard, 2/ so much fun, 3/ so rewarding. The tour organizers are top-notch: knowledgeable and interesting. Efren’s finca –with its gorgeous vistas over the valley– is a welcomed refuge from Medellín’s hurly burly, just 90 minutes away. Highly recommended.

An unforgettable chocolate experience

Oscar made the journey to our destination very interesting because he told us many things about Medellin. Our hosts at the chocolate farm were welcoming and it was clear there was a good bond between them and Oscar. We were shown the cacao on the trees,then we picked some and tasted them . Sandra and Oscar showed us the process of making our individual chocolate bars from beginning to end . We had chocolate to drink with bread and cheese whilst overlooking the amazing views. A great experience .
