  • Borj Nord (Pass By)

    Borj Nord or Burj al-Shamal, Al-Burj ash-Shamali is a fort in the city of Fez, Morocco. It was first established in 1582 by the Saadi dynasty, modeled after the Portuguese forts in the 16th century.

  • Borj Sud (Pass By)

    Borj Sud is a military monument built by the Saadian Sultan Ahmed El Mansour in the 16th century, together with other military buildings (Borj Sud) to monitor and protect the city.

  • Royal Palace of Fez (Pass By)

    The Dar El-Makhzen Palace, also called Palais Royal, is located in Fez. It is the official residence of His Majesty King Mohammed VI of Morocco and his family. And is located in the New City (Fes el Jedid). It is closed to the public but the main gate and facade are worth stopping by for interesting photos.

  • Bab Boujloud (Pass By)

    The Bab Bou Jeloud is an ornate city gate in Fes el Bali, the old city of Fez, Morocco. The current gate dates was built by the French colonial administration in 1913 to serve as the grand entrance to the old city.

  • Bou Inania Medersa (Pass By)

    The Madrasa Bou Inania is a madrasa in Fez, Morocco, founded in AD 1350–56 by Abu Inan Faris. It is widely acknowledged as a high point of Marinid architecture and of historic Moroccan architecture generally.

  • Rue Talaa Kebira (Pass By)

    Easily reached from just inside Bab Bou Jeloud, this market stretches along Talaa Kebira, with produce on the west end (near the medina wall) and meats and spices to the east. Look out for live chickens, street-food stalls and lots of hungry cats. Actual camel heads mark two of Fez's butchers specialising in camel meat.

  • Al-Attarine Madrasa (Pass By)

    Medersa al-Attarine is a madrasa in Fez, Morocco, near the Al-Qarawiyyin Mosque. It was built by the Marinid sultan Uthman II Abu Said in 1323-5. The madrasa takes its name from the Souk al-Attarine, the spice and perfume market.

  • Chouara Tannery (Pass By)

    Tannery is the place where the skins are processed. Tanning hide into leather involves a process which permanently alters the protein structure of skin, making it more durable and less susceptible to decomposition, and also possibly coloring it.

  • Place Seffarine (Pass By)

    Place Seffarine is a small square in the medina of Fez, Morocco. It is located on the south side of the Qarawiyyin Mosque, close to the Bou Khareb River which runs through the heart of the medina. The square dates back to the Middle Ages but has also undergone renovations in modern times.

  • Museo Nejjarine (Pass By)

    Funduq al-Najjarin is a historic funduq in Fez el Bali, the old medina quarter in the city of Fez, Morocco. The funduq is situated in the heart of the medina, at Al-Najjarin Square, which is also notable for the Nejjarine Fountain, an attached saqayya or traditional public fountain

  • Zaouia of Moulay Idriss II (Pass By)

    The Mausoleum, encompasses a mosque, shrine, school (madrasa) then the sanctuary, where fruit and vegetables offered as offerings for Moulay Idriss. The Mausoleum Moulay Idris, made him the patron saint of the city of Fez and his shrine is one of the holiest in Morocco pilgrimage site. Especially during an important festival used to be held every year in the second week of August open only to Muslims and non-Muslims may not enter the mausoleum but can get a view from above up the hill. It’s believed locally that five pilgrimages to Moulay Idriss during the moussem equals one hajj to Mecca.

Adil and his driver Ibrahim provided rich details of Fes, its history, people, and landmarks. Adil has vast connections to the best Tanneries, Argan Oils, and Silk craftsmen in Fes’ Medina. Adil gave detailed accounts of the best offers but helped to ensure that we were not harped on by the medina’s businessmen. If you spend time with Adil, you will be in good hands!

Adil will take you into the heart of Fez and you'll experience his warm hospitality, and incredible talent for providing unforgettable experiences. Adils family have lived in Fez for generations, the walking tour of the Medina was fascinating. He really went out of his way to look after us; organizing tours for us outside the Medina and our travels to the Sahara, Atlas mountains and onto Marrakech. Wow what an experience. We were so lucky to meet Adel - he was born in the Medina and knows the place inside out. He is extremely friendly and a great communicator, good English and rightfully proud of his home spot. Adel is so knowledgeable and took us to off the beaten spots within the Medina that only locals frequent. The tour was sensational and we learnt so much about the heritage significance of the Medina and history of its sites. It really is such a special place that we kept pinching ourselves at how lucky we were to experience it and also the capacity of humans to create such a wonderful place.
