    Begin your foodie journey at Shichahai metro station, where you'll meet your English-speaking guide ready to embark on a culinary adventure. Wander through 1.5 miles (2.5km) of Beijing's historic hutong alleyways, soaking in the city's past while taking delightful breaks to savor local bites.

  • Drum Tower (Gulou) Park (Pass By)

    This hidden gem offers rooftop views of Beijing’s historic bell tower and serves local hotpot in traditional copper pots and filled with a clear broth that highlights the quality ingredients. Thin slices of mutton and beef are quickly cooked in the pot and then dipped in a sauce made with sesame paste…plus grab a pint of local craft beer!

  • Nanluoguxiang (Pass By)

    Run by a husband-wife team, this hidden restaurant specializes in spring pancakes, a dish traditionally enjoyed with family during Chinese New Year to celebrate the arrival of spring and a good harvest. Made fresh to order, they are eaten like a burrito and symbolize family reunion and togetherness.

Faye saves the day

Faye is an outstanding guide whose passion for food and culture made the evening memorable. She took us to actual restaurants (which we would never have found on our own) and selected local dishes made by hand. There was more than enough food for the entire group. Our tour guide, Faye, led us on a culinary journey through main streets and back alleys to some excellent spots that it would have otherwise been impossible to find. She has a passion for the food and culture that shines through. I highly recommend this tour and Faye as a guide.

Our guide Cameron was knowledgeable and very friendly, taking us to some cool places that would be very hard for a tourist to discover! I have no hesitation in recommending this tour, even though we did not end up in a craft beer place as I was expecting.
