Until the early 1990s, Psyri, one of the oldest quarters of Athens, had an ill reputation, but it has now become one of the most fashionable and trendy choices in the centre of Athens for accommodation, entertainment and food hospitality.
The central square of Psyri is called "Heroes square" (πλατεία Ηρώων, plateia Iroon), because the streets leading to it carry names of heroes of the Greek War of Independence (e.g. Karaiskakis, Miaoulis). In the era of the 'old Athens' (namely, during the last quarter of the 19th century), the nickname "plateia of Heroes" was a derisive reference to koutsavakides (κουτσαβάκηδες), who used it as their hangout.

Good intro to Athens

We took this tour middle of Oct, 2024.
Our tour guide, Lampros was very calm and patient.
Even though we were a bit nervous for cycling in the busy city, it was okay as we could practice how to use the bike before the tour started.
He was knowledgeable and showed us many good spots in many areas of Athens.
We mostly kept to pedestrian areas so we didn't have to worry about traffic much - we cycled mostly on safe paths.
Only one thing, the bikes lights were not working. As half of the tour was after sunset, it was a touch worrying, so if the lights were working, that would be perfect.
We could see the perfect sunset from a very good spot, and he gave us a lot of interesting information about Athens and it's history. We recommend this tour, especially as an introduction to Athens.
Thank you for the great time, Lampros
Highly recommend

Loved the e-bike tour. Our guide was wonderful and we saw many sites including the first modern Olympic stadium. Many other sites were on the itinerary and best of all it was easy peddling. Our guide did not rush us and we could stay at each stop as long as we wanted. Highly recommend this tour!
