We came here with my brother and my girlfriend in july. We're under 25 so it was a free tour and to be honest I would have paid for the tickets anyway. The place is very well composed and has many different themed parts. One of the best museums that I've ever been to. We had limited time, so i could only spend 3 hours here. If you want to see and read everything and get absorbed in the atmosphere you need 4-5 hours. The staff were really friendly, they even let us in and out (because my brother wanted to buy some books nearby). So it really is an essential part of the "Athens experience" I highly recommend you try it out. Keep in mind that it may be a little too much for families with children. : )

Lots of interesting history for a few hours in a cool (temperature wise) setting. It was nice to get out of the heat of Athens for a few hours. Very interesting and good audio tour.

Great peek into Ancient Greece in a couple of hours.

Purchase a ticket with the audio guide for a richer experience. We visited on a Friday morning and so did many other local school children on field trips! Be sure to visit the highlighted sculptures from the tour. I especially loved the Mycenae jewelry collections!

This collection is a must see if you’re visiting Athens. Laid out very nicely, you’ll want to allow 2-3 hours for your visit. Nice cafeteria downstairs also.
