Explore the Finnish Archipelago in an incredible nature reserve where the forest meets the sea. Pick berries, learn about wild mushrooms, throw snowballs, or watch great migrations of birds. This off-the-beaten-path destination is our favourite place to explore in every season and share with travellers from all over. Highlights: • A magnificent nature reserve with diverse habitats • Fantastic photo opportunities along the coast • An easy and rewarding walk for all levels of fitness • Prepared lunch and tea with a seaside view We will walk along forest paths, rolling rocks and the beautiful coast, where we have the perfect place for a break, overlooking the Baltic Sea. The meeting point for this trip will be at the bus stop in front of Kiasma (Museum of Contemporary Art). The stop is about 65 steps from the museum entrance and approximately 500 meters from Helsinki Central Railway station.

Itinerary

  • Museum of Contemporary Art Kiasma

    This is the meeting point for this trip. It will be at the bus-stop in front of Kiasma (Museum of Contemporary Art). The stop is about 65 steps from the museum entrance and approximately 500 meters from Helsinki Central Railway station.' The drive up to our destinations is approximately 50 minutes one way.

  • Porkkalanniemi

    In Porkkala our walk begins on a forest trail leading to an open-rock area which is the first display of the many diverse areas. This area will give us the opportunity to see what effects coastal weather has on the nearby forest. Shortly after, we find ourselves with a picturesque coastal view. There will be picnic tables to have a break and fill up on a prepared lunch with coffee/tea. After some free-time exploration and lunch it is time to head back to civilization refreshed from this wholesome nature experience.

A wonderful way to discover Helsinki back country

Jeff was an incredible story teller, easy to talk to, and made sure that we got the right exposure and experienced the nature in Helsinki beautifully. He was encouraging, witty and made sure everyone felt comfortable and involved. Thanks very much for a lifetime of memories. I recommend this trip wholeheartedly who loves nature or wants to connect with their inner selves.

We joined 5 other guests and our tour guide, Jeff for a wonderful adventure in a beautiful nature preserve outside of Helsinki - the Archipelago Excursion.
