Itinerary

  • Parque Ecologico Janauari

    Leaving your hotel at 8.30am to the port of where you will depart in a double deck boat. The boat will navigate downstream the Negro River, until the meeting of the waters. During this trip the guide will be giving information about the native people along the river, the land and lots more. On arrival at the meeting of the waters the guide will explain about the amazing natural phenomena of the rivers. There is a possibility to see the river dolphins (grey and pink). Then the boat continue navigating toward the Januari Ecological Park, where you disembark for a short forest walk of 20 minutes to see the enormous trees (only in the dry season). Embark in a motorized canoe to make a tour on the narrow creeks inside the Solimoes river where we see the Vitoria Regia the famous water lilies, also looking for birds, animals and see the caboclos houses (which is native people of the region) that exist in this park. Lunch will be served on a floating restaurant. After lunch you visit the native floating hand craft shop where you have the opportunity to buy souvenirs. Return to Manaus, arriving at 13.00pm at the Manaus port. -------------------- ITINERARY -------------------- Sample itinerary, times subject to change • 8:30am: Pickup at the hotel reception • 9am: Board boat and cruise to the Lake Januari • 10am: Board canoes and head into the waterways • 11am: Piranhas fishing • 12pm: Lunch on a floating restaurant • 1:30-1:40pm: Return to Port Manaus

You must see the meeting of the waters if you come to Manaus!

Swimming with the river dolphins was a lot of fun. The water was quite warm and comfortable. The meeting of the waters of the Rio Negro and Rio Solimoes to form the Amazon was magnificent. The other stops were just okay. While there was some English narration during the trip, it was quite limited.

Very good tour

Pick up from hotel was as agreed and punctual. The tour was well organised. It was a very large group of about 60 people, but still managed well. Visited the two rivers meeting point with plenty of opportunities to take pictures. This was the highlight of the day. Another highlight was the visit to the local community. Lunch was also very good. The rest of the day was filled up with visits to shops and sellers which you can ignore. You return to the harbour at 3pm.

Outstanding trip. Exceeded our expectations. James was an outstanding guide … personable .. professional and engaging. Our boat driver ‘pastor’ Antonio was also superb in every aspect … both gave us a wonderful day on the Amazon River- the highlight of our days on the River and satisfying our reason for coming - to explore the natural habitat and be exposed to the indigenous culture. We rate it 15 out of 10 - over the top!!!!! Thank you.

Rewarding 1/2 Day River Trip from Manaus

This was an awesome 1/2 day adventure. Our tour guide, Francineto, took us to the Rio Negro, an Indian village were we saw a show, swimming with the dolphins. Lunch was all you can eat and wonderful. There were a couple of stops to buy souvenirs. Francineto was a great tour guide. You could tell he takes great pride in his job. He was constantly interacting with all his guest (40+tourist). He and his team kept us safe while on the boat and everyone returned home safe. I’d recommend this trip if you are short on time in Manaus. Seeing the Rio Negro was the highlight of the tour for me.
