Overview

Passionate about travel and architecture, Céline and Yvan ZEYSSOLFF have visited many original and sometimes exceptional family wineries. They all share a common theme: to democratize one of France's finest heritage - wine. The winery is no longer used solely as a working tool, but as a place where wine can be shared through a family and regional history. Céline and Yvan ZEYSSOLFF, owners of an estate rich in history and heritage, decided to create a place for sharing, where wine enthusiasts and non-enthusiasts will come away enriched not only culturally but also emotionally. You'll taste several Alsace wines and an Alsatian pie in a unique setting: an old family cellar dating back to 1850, where history and modernity meet! A small, cosy space is also available in the House's former vaulted cellar. Children are welcome, and will be offered grape juice.

Our address is: "Au Péché Vigneron - winery ZEYSSOLFF" - 156 route de Strasbourg - 67140 GERTWILLER You can use the big parking lot that you will see upon arrival (there are vines just next to it), and the entrance of the tasting room is just in front of it. If you would like to arrive by taxi – VTC, you can contact https://evasioncars.fr/ , personalized service and online quote. If you come by train (from Colmar or Strasbourg) there are two options: - You have a train station in Gertwiller, our town, which is 5 minutes’ walk from the winery. - You also have Barr train station (town right next to ours), a little further. It is 25 minutes’ walk. Gertwiller is a small train station, so trains don’t stop every hour, but in Barr you have much more trains coming and going. The best is to look up on the french national railway website called SNCF and check the timetables.

Itinerary

I welcome you to the cellar with a glass of wine to start the tasting. We will then watch an informative video on the Alsace wine-making process (adapted for children).I will take you to visit the family cellar dating back to 1850, and discover the century-old oak barrels that we still use to make our wines. In 2020 following the organic conversion of my entire estate, we renovated our cellar and use now of this new space to offer our visitors a new activity. We have a scenographic experience in the cellar with a 180° immersive video projected on barrels : unique in France...It is a film about my rather rich personal history, and about my work philosophy. The whole video is projected in the cellar, on century-old oak barrels at 180° (mapping on some sequences) with sound work, throwing the audience in total immersion in my story. The tasting is then followed by a meal in our NEW TASTING ROOM AND 100% IMMERSIVE RESTAURANT. Lounge music and images projected on the wall will transport you for a meal in OUR universe, where intermingles wine and tourism… This meal is composed of a cup of a Home-made soup - then a slice of riesling-cooked meat pie accompanied by various salds - Then, a plate of various cheeses is offered, followed by a delicious slice of kougelhopf and biebelaskaes (Alsatian cottage cheese). Finally, you finish your meal with a coffee or a tea. Throughout the meal, each dish is accompanied by a glass of wine from the estate. For children, a menu composed of knacks (small local sausages), vegetable chips, drink and dessert is available. You can also not register the children and they will choose a menu directly here ! A guide is at your disposal throughout the visit to exchange and answer your questions. Absolutely wonderful tour! You could feel the family love of winemaking. They did a wonderful tour for our Gate1 group including tasting 6 wines and a great lunch. We couldn't decide which wine we like the best so we shipped 4 cases home to the US. Cheers!!!

We arrived only 15 minutes late but staff ensured that we caught up with a nice introductory video. All the wines were nice and not overpriced.
