Overview

Akka is a high-performance sailing catamaran, built in England by Seatech by legendary multihull designer Peter Spronk. After crossing the Atlantic from Holland to the West Indies, she cruised the waters of the Bahamas before sailing to Florida. Akka is now based on the island of Aruba Dutch West Indies. Before 2019, it was used as a Charter boat on the island of Sint Maarten. As soon as the purchase was completed, Akka sailed straight to Aruba. The family sailed many times along the shore and around the island of Aruba—a few trips to Curacao and Bonaire, and 2 beautiful transatlantic journeys. It was awesome! Young guys were captain and first mate! Drinks, sandwiches and fresh pineapple! Saw a sea turtle and lots of fish! Reasonable rice!!

Great crew and the snorkeling was great, as they had great chicken and tuna wraps. Oh, the "Adult Beverages," were great, too.

Fantastic morning sail with expert crew. After the crew’s hilarious introduction to the morning’s activities, we sunbathed on the comfortable see-through hammocks with the waves gently lapping below. Then we were given flippers and masks to explore an enormous wartime shipwreck- so cool! I’m not in great physical shape but though the water was a bit choppy it was a piece of cake and really interesting. It was my first trip on a catamaran and though it was windy the boat was extremely stable and the ride very smooth. Afterwards we were offered drinks (free, all you want, including alcohol), bite sized sandwich wraps and fruit. Then we went snorkeling in the pristine,calm acquamarine waters of the sea turtle reserve where we floated by big turtles and a host of brightly colored fish (i had yellow flippers and the yellow striped zebra fish came right up to me to check me out) ! We also saw lobsters and small octopus hiding between the rocks. Spectacular experience - I could have stayed there the entire day! Sad the morning came to an end - I highly recommend this cruise for people of all ages and experience on the sea.
