Overview
See the most important parts of Athens and get a taste of the birthplace of democracy and western civilization. Visit the Acropolis and drive around the city to see the highlights of Athens, being a traveler, not a tourist!
Itinerary
Acropolis
Sightseeing in Athens starts with the hill of Acropolis which will make your day. On the historical hill, you will have the opportunity to see the Odeon of Herodes Atticus, the Temple of the Athena Nike, the monumental gateway (Propylaea), the Erechtheum and of course the famous Parthenon, the main temple dedicated to the virgin goddess Athena.
1 hour 30 minutes
Propylaea (Pass By)
The Propylaea is the monumental entrances to the sacred area dedicated to Athena, the patron goddess of the city. Built by the architect Mnesicles with Pentelic marble, their design was avant-garde. To the south-west of the Propylaea, on a rampart protecting the main entrance to the Acropolis, is the Ionian temple of Apteros Nike.

The initial version includes fragments of glass that interact with the natural and artificial light, but also water, a version that was supported for a while. Being the first public work of modern art in Athens it sparked a series of discussions and disagreements.
Mount Lycabettus
Then moving into the historical center of the city we will drive up the highest hill of Athens, Lycabettus Hill, where you’ll have the best panoramic view of the city, from the hill of Acropolis to the Aegean Sea.

While the collection covers the Archaic and Roman periods, the emphasis is on the Acropolis of the 5th century BCE, considered the apotheosis of Greece’s artistic achievement.

Our driver was Babis and we felt so fortunate to have him. He showed up early at the cruise port, sign in hand, and kept in touch with me on what’s app. It was a perfect day of sightseeing with the tickets already purchased. The tour was capped off at the end with a delicious lunch. We were quite pleased and felt like we got a great bargain!
Private Athens Tour…Best Choice!
Published on Oct, 2024
We were picked up at Piraeus Port by our private tour guide I believe his name was Jonathan. We saw many impressive sights in Athens…The President’s home, The Prime Minister’s home, The Parliament Building, The Changing of the Guard, The Acropolis, The Parthenon, The Temple of Zeus, The Stadium, and Ancient Agora. Jonathan took us up to the highest point in Athens called Mount Lycabettus. What an outstanding view of Athens! Additionally we stopped for our Greek lunch where we were treated to a lovely Greek salad with delicious fresh ingredients, a very filling gyro, and excellent baklava! A sightseeing private tour is the way to go and our guide took great care of us throughout the day!

Our guide Gianna was wonderful. From the moment I booked the tour until the actual tour itself everything went smoothly. She was very responsive to my inquiries. Picked us up at the port on time. She gave us good informations about the sights, she was so gracious to all of my family. Would definitely recommend to friends and family

This was an amazing tour. The driver and tour guide Alexander was very knowledgeable and friendly. He gave us a history of Greece and Greek mythology. He and the other guide Arepostle were patient and kind. Our daughter used a wheelchair and they were assisting us to get the special needs she has. Lunch was great too!
AMAZING Athens Tour
Published on Oct, 2024
We had an amazing private, full day tour in Athens. Dimitris was a perfect host/guide. He took his time to share his knowledge of his city, history and culture. Made several stops between the Acroplis, Temple of Zues, Mount Lycabettus and the ancient Agora to share more about the history of Athens. Dimitris timed a perfect stop on a Sunday to see the changing of the guards at the Presidential Palace and the guards were in their dress uniforms.
Thank you Dimitris for a memorable day! We learned so much from you and you are a professional and passionate guide!
