We had a really nice trip and Denny, our guide/driver, did a great job!
However, I don't like this part of American culture where greedy employers underpay their staff and these guys have to beg tourists for more money stating that this is making a considerable part of their paycheck. These trips are already expensive enough and tourists have already paid enough money for the new Ferrari of the boss of the company. So, it is not our fault that all these employees are underpaid. This is extremely humiliating to watch and listen to! It is not humane behaviour to all these tour guides and drivers who are pressed to constantly humiliate themselves like that! I feel humiliated as a human being when I have to listen to this. This is something for which I would give 1star to every single trip in the US, just because they make you feel so humiliated and so bad, and this is just how the trip ends.
In this case, I don't think Denny said anything about that. However, the whole bus was full of stickers saying "if you enjoyed your ride, don't forget to tip your driver".
Well, I did enjoy the ride and the trip, but I already paid for that trip and I don't need to pay even more because my tour guide is just doing their job. So, what? If they knew that I don't want to pay a tip, they will just leave me behind on one of the stops, somewhere in the middle of the desert?
In Japan, it is insulting to tip personnel. And in Europe, our tour guides just do their job, with a smile on their face, not because they expect a tip, but just because this is their job and they enjoy doing it. So, this exploitation of human beings in the US is really disgusting.
