Overview

・We make 6-7 incense which is the only incense in the world "made only from matcha".It warms without burning to give off the aroma of tea.You don't have to worry about ash care or smoke health hazards. ・The matcha tea used has accumulated in the gap of the machine and has to be discarded.I'm getting that while it's still fresh.You participate in eco-friendly activities while having fun. ・You will use wooden molds for making traditional Japanese sweets, custom-made for incense.It looks like an edible pastry.It is also the only incense maker in the world that uses about 50 different types of candy wood molds.Incense retains its beautiful shape even after the fragrance is gone.It can also be used repeatedly as an aromastone. ・You will receive a special incense burner that can be folded into small pieces.You can take it home and enjoy the scent immediately at home.It is also a great souvenir. · The ingredients of the clay incense are soft and have a healing effect on your mind.And this is for kids who like to play with clay. ・The event will be held at Eshin-in Temple in the center of Kyoto Uji tourism.The garden has many seasonal flowers carefully maintained by the priest.It is a place with a good view overlooking Byodo-in Temple on the other side of the Uji River. ※Please apply for two or more people. ※Once you have chosen "English" as your preferred language, we will arrange an interpreter (¥8,800 extra at the door)

Itinerary

① Introduction to the world's only matcha incense made in a wooden shape, and explanation of how to burn it (15 minutes) ② Make 6-7 maccha incense (45 minutes) Everyone will receive an incense burner (smaller when folded) suitable for the aroma of matcha tea! This event will be held at Eshin-in Temple, a temple located a five-minute walk from Ujibashi Bridge, the tourist center of Kyoto Uji. The only ingredient for the fragrance is matcha.It is also made from recycled fresh Uji matcha, which is discarded. It is also a perfect souvenir for your loved ones. ※The instructor is in Japanese only.If you would like to arrange an English interpreter, please select "Available Languages: English" at the time of booking.Please pay an additional ¥8800 (per group) locally. Amazing workshop. Fun and relaxing. Loved learning about Matcha and Uji and left with beautiful incense we made. My 15 year old enjoyed making his own set and my 7 year old helped me.

A fun incense-making experience!

We enjoyed the version of this tour that included a matcha-themed kaiseki lunch and it was really fun. The location was right next to the river, and we walked easily across the island in the middle of the Uji river to the shrine where the green-tea kneaded incense class was held. Our interpreter was helpful and fun, and it was fun to mix the left-over tea into clay. Choosing the forms was fun--there were many traditional and geometric shapes to choose from. We left with eight shapes that smell lovely over the tealight burner (also included in the package). I learned that you can purchase green tea essential oil as well, once the smell starts to fade, to freshen it up. We enjoyed both the lunch and the kneaded incense making.
