We had a wonderful morning safari in Udawalawa National Park with Saranga after meeting him by chance the day before.
In the morning Saranga picked us up at the hotel with his jeep. We were at the entrance to the national park at the opening time, as we had requested.
We were particularly interested in the elephants and wanted to observe them in peace and quiet and not just drive from photo spot to photo spot, as we had already experienced in another national park. We had requested and discussed this beforehand and Saranga fully complied with our wishes.
Saranga had a very good sense. He drove carefully up to the elephants and we were able to observe the animals at close range - often as the only jeep - as they grazed, bathed and drank water. We saw individual elephants in various places, but also small groups and several baby elephants with a cow elephant. More elephants usually came out of the thicket because we were waiting in the right places. It was beautiful!!! And exactly what we wanted to see above all else.
Saranga also pointed out many other animals to us: Eagles, crested eagles, kingfishers, parrots, peacocks, crocodiles, lizards, deer, a kind of toucan, water buffalo....
We wouldn't have seen most of them without him. Here, too, we had time to look if we wanted to. He has a very good eye for the animals in the park. He also speaks very good English and provides interesting information.
We really got our money's worth. The pricing was very transparent as we paid our entrance fee at the park and paid him separately for the tour at the agreed price, which was very fair. We definitely would book with him again.
