Overview

Hi! Are you looking for an unforgettable adventure amidst the Swiss Alps, far away from the crowds with delicious homemade food? As a local tour guide I would like to show you a magical and thrilling 1.5 hour hike above Wengen. It's offering breathtaking views of Jungfrau and Silberhorn in sunset time. Our destination is a scenic point where we'll prepare real homemade Cheese Fondue surranded by the alpine beauty. It's worth mentioning that the cheese fondue served in restaurants is not homemade, but unfortunately only heated from ready-made cheese mixes. After a picturesque dinner against the backdrop of a sunset casting golden hues on the 4,000-meter peaks, we'll descend back to Wengen, soaking in the enchanting vistas. Difficulty level: MODERATE Elevation difference: 230m up Total trail length: 4.3km * Each participant will receive a small backpack with a few items needed to prepare Fondue, but they won't be heavy.

Meeting points

We re meeting in front of RAIFFEISEN BANK in Wengen, it's 50m from Wengen train station. To get to Wengen you have to use train from Lauterbrunnen, as Wengen is FREE OF CARS without car access. Train goes up every 30min, even in late night (5:00pm, 5:30pm, 6:00pm).

Itinerary

Hike in the peaceful mountains of Wengen starts opposite to Wengen Train station. Our destination is an amazing and peaceful spot above Wengen. There we'll prepare together the most fameous Swiss dish - cheese fondue. All that surrounded by nature, beautiful views, peace, and quiet. During dinner, I will tell you about the origins of this dish and important traditions in Switzerland. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about the Jungrauregion and find out what is worth seeing in the following days. After fulling dinner surrounded by nature we will walk back down to the center of Wengen in sunset lights. What’s included: Traditional Swiss Cheese Fondue with sides: bread, pickels, apples, mushrooms and peppers. Bottle of still water. Wine is not included in finner, but if you like you can bring some. Difficulity level: MODERATE * In case we can take a taxi almost all the way up to skip steep parts.

If you are considering booking this experience, do it!! First, Veronica was very mindful of the weather and flexible with her schedule to give us the best experience possible. We went on a great hike with amazing views, and Veronica had tons of interesting information to share on the way up. Then, she taught us how to make authentic fondue, which was delicious. We ended with tasting some chocolates- also delicious. Veronica is so friendly and a great guide. You will not be disappointed!
