If you only have time for one Flamenco show in Sevilla, look no further!! Pura Esencia is your place. It was our first night in Spain after a long flight from another continent, we were pretty tired but excited at the same time. We had no idea what to expect walking into this show but thought going to a Flamenco show on our first night in Spain would be a good welcoming. Well, little did we know what we were about to see was an absolutely exceptional performance that we will never forget.
Started with the guitar maestro, that set us straight into the mood, then the singing. The emotion, the skill and the passion, you don't need to understand spanish to be moved. Then the dance!! No word could describe the impact we felt. Every move was so precise, the facial expression, the hands, so much passion, so much emotion, we just could not take our eyes off the dancers at all. We weren't that familiar with male Flamenco dancers, but boy, the performer we saw that night, his performance was just out of this world. I didn't know one's feet could move that fast.
The impact we felt after the show had left us feeling so excited and amazed hours after it finished. Our jet leg, tireness from 19 hours of flying was completely forgotten as soon as the show start.
Oh as for the food, we didn't initially booked the food option after reading reviews online. But when we arrived in Sevilla we were pretty tired and didn't have enough time to get our bearings for the place. So we showed up to Pura Esencia early and asked if we could eat there as well. They were being very accommodating and we got our food with the show. To be honest, the food was actually quite decent. I meant yes it wasn't as good as many many other places in Sevilla, but it could still be a good option if you're like us, freshly off the plane to a new country on the first night. We actually enjoyed our beef stew with fries, and the cheese platter was decent too. The only downside was that we were the only table eating during that show and we were right at the front. It felt a bit awkward being the only ones eating while everyone else was watching. Also it's hard to find the right time to take a bite as the show was so intrigging and we didn't want to take our eyes off the stage in case we missed out on some cool moves.
We would travel to Sevilla just to see this show again and again, when we travel back to Spain next.
