Overview

Enjoy this tour to explore the major sights of the historic bay of Navarino, near the town of Pylos. With a landscape of incredible natural beauty, we enjoy clear blue waters, golden sandy beaches where sea turtles return to lay their eggs. You can also see medieval castles standing over historical shipwrecks outlining the rich naval history of the area.

Meeting points

Meeting on the beachfront, keep driving straight on the dirt road when the asphalt road turns right, for 100 more meters, we will be on an open space that looks like a parking area.

Itinerary

Our trip starts at Divari beach. Your guide will brief you on paddling techniques, safety measures, and equipment. Soon we shall hop on our kayaks for a trip around the Navarino bay like never before. We start paddling overlooking the town of Pylos and the Niokastro fort. Heading towards the imposing monolithic islet located at the south side of the bay, we visit the impressive natural stone arch. The islet is also a place of nesting and resting place for many species of birds. Weather permitting, we can circumnavigate it and visit a few of its sea caves, tunnels and arches. Our next stop is the unhabituated island of Sphacteria. Here, we jump out of our kayaks, stretch our legs and walk to the island’s viewpoint for taking pictures of an idyllic landscape and for story-telling. After some kayaking we shall make a stop at a secluded beach for swimming and snorkeling, and why not some cliff diving for those who feel more adventurous. Here we shall also taste our homemade picnic of local delicacies and relax under the sun. After this energy pumped stop, we will paddle back to the starting point to end an amazing day in the tranquility of the Navarino Bay.

  • The activity includes a 30 minutes preparation time, 2 to 2.5 hours paddling exploration, 1 to 1.5 hours free time for picnic, relaxation, snorkelling, swimming, diving and other activities.
  • We recommend you take with you: water, hat, sun cream, towel, swimsuit, extra pair of shoes that will get wet. Suitable shoes are lightweight trainers, flip flops, sandals or sea shoes. Avoid bulky shoes.
  • Please note we reserve the right to modify or cancel any outdoor activity due to bad weather or technical difficulties.

Amazing, fun experience!

We had such a fabulous time on the sea kayak experience in Navarino Bay!! We would 100% do this again if we return to the area. We met our guides Roque and Fotis in the morning where they told us some helpful tips on kayaking techniques. There were two other people on the kayak trip. The guides made it LOTS of fun and had plenty of good stories and history. We had a chance to take a swim before our lunch on the beach which was delicious. They took photos of the day and emailed them to us so we have memories of the trip. Do not hesitate to book this experience!!

Excellent morning of kayaking — even for two kids who weren’t that into it

First and foremost, our guide, Roc, know exactly how to read the room with our kiddos — 6 and 8. They didn’t take right away to kayaking, but Roc quickly pivoted to redirect us from a longer route to a much shorter one that involved a lot of swimming and horse play in the shallow water. Roc was great company and a great fit for our family. He got us up to speed on the basics, showed us a couple of sights (including a cool sunken ship) but then had us paddle up the coast for a nice long swim before a light lunch. What could have been an exercise in parents pushing unwilling kids ended up being a fun morning in excellent company, thanks to Roc and the team.

Kayaking in Greece

This was so magical; the distance was just right. Kayaked to a Greek Island! Cannot put into words the views, Mediterranean Sea, beyond beautiful. Our guides were so very welcoming , friendly and helpful, with a side of humour too. I highly recommend; I did this as a solo excursion and I was more than comfortable. And would do it again in a heartbeat.

Navarino Bay by Kayak with history and sandwiches

We had a fantastic day exploring the beautiful Navarino Bay with George our excellent guide. The instruction at the start was very clear and concise and the distances we covered perfect for our level of fitness (we are not so young any more). We visited the island and sea cave, sampled the bigger waves beyond the harbour mouith which was exciting. We also stopped at a lovely beach for a swim and a simple yet delicious picnic. George is extremely knowledgeable of the area and taught us about the extensive history of the place from spartans through to naval battles of the 19th century which changed the course of Greek history. I thoroughly recomend this trip.
