Overview

Experience the beauty of the rainforest through our Villa Lapas Sky Way walking tour 1.5 miles (2.5 km) in length, and five suspended bridges at more than 180 feet above the ground. Each of these bridges is an astonishing 300 feet length, crossing through the very heart of the tropical rainforest. This all-ages tour lets you observe the primary and secondary rainforest vegetation. Make yourself one with the jungle. Keep your eyes open to see the numerous bird species, mammals and other varied fauna that call this forest home. The nature walk last about one hour and it includes some areas with some steeps, ups and downs. The end of this rainforest experience is Villa Lapas Eco Hotel, where you will enjoy fresh tropical fruits and Ice Tea. After this great adventure, our tour will continue with a short drive to Tarcoles River. Here you will take a boat tour where you can enjoy the abundant wildlife of the area

Bridges and Boats

Our tour was excellent. Despite getting off to a rough start, our couple was counted and charged twice) we had a great time. The hanging bridges were interesting and gave a unique view of the rainforest. We saw a couple of birds, but no others wildlife as it was late morning when we were there. Our guide was well informed and shared the names and uses of trees and plants we saw along the way. After a short break with juices, water and fruit in a pretty setting, we ventured on to the boat tour. The boat tour was phenomenal! Saw lots of different types of birds along the shores and 2 crocodiles up close and personal. A large croc surfaced beside the boat and stayed with us for several minutes allowing for a great photo opportunity. Later a smaller female croc swam up to the boat and looked us over. This was a long hot day with lots of steps up and down to get to the sky bridges, but well worth the physical effort.

Shore excursion from cruise ship berthed at Puntarenas for the Rainforest Skywalk Tour about an hours drive from port. Dropped off at top of walk so mostly downhill through the rainforest and across several narrow suspension bridges. Not for anyone with mobility problems, as we had on our tour which meant the group broke up and missed the excellent guides commentary.
