Meritxell from El Brogit Ecotourism planned an unforgettable three-day “wine soaked” tour of the Priorat region.
With engaging and informative stops at Mas Martinet, Gratavinum, Mas Doix, Clos Mogador and Cellar Devinissi, she managed to sneak in enough time for tasty lunches in the charming villages of Falset, Poboleda, and Gratallops.
We even ran into Alvaro Palacios!
The region’s austere beauty is breathtaking. Limestone capped mountains form a giant amphitheater with hectares of irregularly patched vineyards hugging the hills, interspaced by small villages that pop from the landscape like ancient castles.
All the wineries were welcoming, exuding their individual personal charms. Did we mention the wines were fantastic!
Thanks to our friendly and knowledgeable personal guide Jeff, we were “plugged in” to the region and welcomed everywhere like long lost relatives.
We also did an eye-opening organic olive oil tasting in Scaladei. Our host spoke not a word of English but communicated her passion for olive oil with her eyes and lovely demeanor.
Thank you, Meritxell, and Jeff, for providing us so many lasting memories. We could not have asked for anything more.
