Itinerary

  • N/A (Pass By)

Contemplate the astonishing Miami skyline from our convertible Jeep and learn about the relationship between Real State and Drug money. This relationshiop was apparent during the 1970s.The money from the drug trade was literally going everywhere and one of the most prominent places it went into was the number one industry, real estate, which generated $9 billion a year, and the drug trade was estimated to bring in $12 billion a year into the local economy,

  • Vizcaya Museum and Gardens (Pass By)

On the way to the Grove we will be passing by Vizcaya Museum and Gardens a lasting, gorgeous structure of European essence. Overlooking the pristine waters of Biscayne Bay, this beautiful estate offers a refreshing serenity to the otherwise extravagant and flashy rhythm of Miami. The stunning architecture attracts thousands of visitors a year, making it one of the cityā€™s most popular sights. Vizcayaā€™s opulence made it not only popular with tourists, but also a target for thieves. In 1971, three New York residents raided and stole $1.5 million in art, jewelry, and collectibles. Three days later the robbers were found and caught in New York City; however, only a small fraction of the stolen items were recovered and brought back to Vizcaya.

  • Coconut Grove (Pass By)

After getting some history around Miami skyline we will be heading towards Coconut Grove. Coconut Grove ā€“ known to locals as "The Grove" ā€“ is one of the hippest, most energetic, most inviting corners of South Florida. Coconut Grove is home to Vizcaya Museum and Gardens and elegant hotels. Given his proximity to some of the Marinas around the area and home of the Mutiny Hotel a mecca for the 1980s' cocaine kingpins we will be driving through this luxury district and his houses getting a glimpse of how this area became a hot spot on the drug war on the 80s. This area is also known for its peacocks that roam about freely. We will have the chance to see them with their gorgeous shimmery colors and flashy tails

  • N/A (Pass By)

We will be passing by one of the different Marinas around Coconut Grove to learn about some of the different distribution channels used by the drug kingpins in the 80's. Going back in modern history during the Prohibition era, these boats were used illegally as drug runners. Drug dealers were using these boats to escape from the U.S. Coast Guards and DEA agents. Coast guards back then, with their typical patrol boats, were unable to catch these boats because of their higher speeds

  • Miami City Hall (Pass By)

On the way to the Mutiny we will be passing by Miami City Hall. What is now Miami City Hall was built in 1934 by Pan American Airlines for its worldwide flying-boat terminal. The air terminal was sold to the city of Miami in 1946 and after a brief stint as Jackie Hellerā€™s Dinner Key Terrace restaurant, the city converted the building into its City Hall in 1954

  • N/A (Pass By)

Out last stop will be at one of the most iconics symbols of the drug war on the 80's. You will learn all type of histories around The Mutiny Hotel in Coconut Grove which was a hotspot for drug dealers and celebrities in the cocaine heyday of Miami. The hotel was described as a mecca for the 1980s' cocaine kingpins. Mutiny at Sailboat Bay was one of the country's most lucrative hotels, perennially overbooked and sending off armored trucks with sacks of its cash profits, albeit in the new murder-and-drug capital of America. The celebs, the crooked pols, spies, the informants, cops ā€” good and bad ā€” were all there. So much hot money was sloshing around Miami that the Mutiny was selling more bottles of Dom PĆ©rignon than any other establishment on the planet.
