We visited Materuni Waterfall with the team, and our guide was Emmanuel. He was full of energy and positivity! On the way to the waterfall, he shared fascinating facts about Chagga traditions and answered all our questions.
I swam in the pool of the waterfall, even though the water was cold. But on the way back uphill, you warm up quickly.
The real fun started when we returned to the village. With singing and dancing, we all took part in making coffee: roasting the beans, pounding them in a mortar, sieving, and finally brewing it over an open fire. Emmanuel got everyone involved in both the dancing and the process — it was such a fun experience.
At the end, we had a delicious and filling local lunch: mtori, sukuma wiki, and a hearty legume soup. And just in time, the freshly brewed coffee was ready. Grown on the slopes of Kilimanjaro, it was incredibly tasty!
Huge thanks to the team! We truly appreciated the immersion into Materuni village traditions and the wonderful atmosphere.
