Stroll through historic sites such as the Old City hall, the Linz castle and Landhaus. You will also see one of the largest churches in Austria, the New Cathedral which can accommodate up-to twenty thousand people. Hauptplatz
Start your tour at the Hauptplatz which is the main square of the city and one of the largest enclosed squares in Austria. Here, you will see the meaningful Trinity Column designed in baroque style and carved in white marble. It dates back to 1723.

Located closeby is the Altes Rathaus (Old city hall). It is enclosed by buildings with an important historical background with striking facades which characterize the square's appearance.

Martinskirche
You will then walk by the Linz Castle that was built between 1364 and 1368 by Heinrich von Virneburg before you arrive at the Martinskirche (Saint Martin's Church). It is one of the oldest churches in Austria. Here, you will find Roman inscriptions and a copy of the famous Volto Santo of Lucca.

One of the striking features is the Planetenbrunnen (Fountain of the planets) which was made in memory of Johannes Kepler. Interestingly, The Johannes Kepler University Linz is also named in honor of the famous astronomer.

Continue on to Mariendom (New Cathedral) which is the largest church in Austria, it can accommodate up-to twenty thousand people. The church is designed in neo-gothic style. You will be astonished when you see the stained glass windows, especially the Linz Window that depicts the history of Linz.
