The half-day tour consists of an excursion lasting approximately 4 hours, where we can explore the main points of the island. We visited the famous Caldeira, as well as the most recent volcano on the island of Faial, the Capelinhos Volcano, passing through various viewpoints with unique beauty. Itinerary

  • Miradouro de Nossa Senhora da Conceicao

    Stop at the Nossa Senhora da Conceição viewpoint, with a panoramic view of the city of Horta and the east coast of Faial

    30 minutes

  • Caldeira

    Passage through the central area of the island, until we reach one of the most iconic places on the island, the large Faial caldera, 2,000 meters in diameter and with its highest point at 1,043 meters above sea level.

  • Praia Da Faja

    We went down through the central area of the island to Praia da Fajã, facing north, where we were able to appreciate the famous black sand, with a green slope.

    45 minutes

  • Capelinhos

    We continue through the west, towards the most recent eruption on the island of Faial, in 1957/58

    1 hour

  • Monte Da Guia Walking Trail

    We continue along the south coast, admiring the parishes of Capelo, Castelo Branco and Feteira, until we reach Monte da Guia, where we make our last stop.

Outstanding tour of Horta

Kevin was an outstanding guide! Our half day tour of Horta was one of the highlights of our trans Atlantic cruise. We originally booked a Caldiera Descent tour but this was cancelled and we found this tour at the last minute and we are so glad we did. Kevin was incredibly professional and genuinely funny. The knowledge and love for his country was always evident. We highly recommend this tour and Kevin, 5 stars.

Highly entertaining tour

Kevin gave us a fun filled tour. His anecdotes were hilarious and kept us laughing all around the island. He chased good weather and made lots of stops so he could explain and we could see the local vistas. He topped it off with an excellent lunch recommendation! Highly recommend this tour.

Kevin from Walk-In-Blue is a super guide! In love with his island and very open, very attentive, nice humour and knowledgeable. A very careful driver as well. The trip was well organised (taken into account the changing weather). We got time to take the surroundings in and not had to hurry to be ‘on time’ somewhere else.

Perfect Tour of Faial

Kevin led us on a wonderful half day tour of Failal. He picked us up at the ferry station and drove us all around the island stopping at the highlights (the caldiera, volcano, and black sand beach) as well as some off the beaten path lookouts. Throughout, he provided wonderful information about the history, geography, and population of Faial. He had wonderful recommendations for how to spend the rest of our afternoon before our 5:15 ferry back to Pico
