Steps Beach, Tres Palmas Reserve is a protected natural reserve that has beautiful reefs with color and local marine life. It has many types of coral including lots of stunning elk horn coral. One of are certified guides will safely guide you through the reef and help show you things that may be hard to first see.

Itinerary

Come Snorkel with us at the famous Tres Palmas Marine Natural Reserve, also known as Steps Beach, and see a amazing coral reef with lots of local aquatic life. Sea turtles are one of our more famous inhabitants at the reserve. One of our certified snorkel guides, who is experienced and knowledgeable with the local reefs, guides you safely through the reef so you can get the most out of your snorkeling experience in Rincon Puerto Rico. There is a high probability of seeing a sea turtle but can not be guaranteed. We can however guaranty that you will see many different smaller colorful reef fish. *We go from shore, we don’t use a boat.

Bucket List Goal Complete

Let me start this by saying that I am absolutely terrified of swimming in the ocean but I really love turtles so I sucked it up. My husband and I ended up being the only two people on our Wednesday AM tour with Hayden as our guide. Hayden made us feel safe and at home in the water and shared some informative and funny stories as we snorkeled around (which made me feel much more relaxed). We were so lucky to see not one but TWO turtles on our outing as well as many schools of "Dory" fish and a group of larger tarpons. This was a bucket-list level life achievement! Would recommend if you get seasick easily, don't forget the waves will knock you around a lot so prepare well in that regard. We had to sit for a little bit before driving home. But that was hardly a deterrent and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! 10/10.

Hayden was amazing! He was patient and very knowledgeable. We originally chose a later time in the day, but the company reached out to suggest going earlier to ensure we had a nice experience due to potential afternoon storms and lower water visibility. The suggestion was well worth it and very much appreciated. We had such a great time and thoroughly enjoyed our snorkeling experience!

Turtles, rays and many fish - Haydn was an excellent guide. Wholly recommend. Get early in the day as the heat can become a bit much.

Our guide Hayden was awesome! He was knowledgeable and engaging. Great personality, fantastic easy area to snorkel for first time or 50th! Hayden even made sure we were able to see a few turtles!!!
