Overview
Walk the city with an expert guide through the cobblestone streets while being mesmerized with 500 years of history. Appreciate the fort that was built for protection, as well as the Governor’s Mansion, the legendary San Juan Cathedral, and other historical and tourist attractions. Walk through the San Juan Gate built in 1520 to protect the city from those entering the harbor.

It was built in 1521, destroyed by a storm, and later rebuilt in 1529.
The Church was named a minor basilica by Pope Paul VI on January 25, 1978, at the request of Cardinal Luis Aponte Martínez, Archbishop of San Juan.
It contains the remains of the explorer and conquistador Juan Ponce de León, as well as the martyr San Pío. It contains some relics such as those of the ornaments and vestments worn by Pope John Paul II during his visit to Puerto Rico in 1984.
