Overview

Be welcomed into an artists personal studio and enjoy hands on instruction. Each student will learn the basics of glassblowing, and create an item of their choosing in a laid back, friendly environment.

Itinerary

This fun and exciting hands-on workshop is designed to give participants a solid foundation of basic glassblowing techniques. Safety, tool functions and the core principles of manipulating glass will be explored. A member of our trained staff will demonstrate the basics of gathering glass from the furnace and creating simple forms, then assist each participant to create their own finished piece. No glassworking experience is required. This is a true "hot glass" experience.Be sure to hydrate before and during the workshop, wear close toed shoes and wear natural fiber clothing. While we appreciate humor, we do not tolerate horseplay of any kind, Gilbert Glassworks reserves the right to dismiss anyone whose conduct is deemed detrimental, without refund. If you have any doubts or questions concerning our requirements, what to wear, etc., please feel free to call or email. Minimum of 3 people need to book in total for the class to occur.

What an exciting activity! I had an amazing time creating a piece of fusion art! Brit was so patient and helpful as I had no prior experience with this type of media. Will certainly do it again the next time I’m in town!

Can't miss experience while in Destin!

We had the most unforgettable experience trying out glassblowing at Glass Deer. The owner Brit is an amazing artist and even better teacher. She is knowledgeable, patient and allows us time to work on our pieces. We were only visiting Destin, but we'd return just to take another class from Brit.

Great day spent with our children in their 20's. The instructor was extremely patient and you actually make something you could leave out on a shelf in your home! We would all come back again.

A World Of Signs team classes

Such a fun and wonderful experience. I attended today, Friday with A World Of Signs and created a simple and beautiful layout of blown glass pieces and colored glass crystals on a round clear piece of glass. I can't wait to see the finished product and my daughter wants to come with me next time after I showed & told her about everything. I will be in touch to check out our options. Amazing experience! Brit is fabulous

My sister and adult son went to Glass Deer. None of us have done anything like this before, nor are we very artistic or creative. Brit was fabulous. She was interesting, informative, creative, patient and very clear with each step and provided instructions that were easy to understand and follow. She has work displayed throughout that are gorgeous and provide ample examples of her artistic talents. We each picked a different thing to create and we were involved & interested and learning with each piece. Each one had different steps to do and learn from. We would all do this again - at least if it was Brit. She made what could have been a scary and daunting experience seem quite doable, interesting & fun.
