Overview

We will gather in our cozy kitchen before leaving with our local foodie to go shopping at the famous and vibrant food market at the Plaza de Lugo in downtown Coruña. We will see the varieties of sea food and fish just coming from the boats and ready for selling. We will be immersed in the trading environment with locals. A great opportunity to learn about the Galician gastronomic culture. Pencil & Fork will buy all products we will need for the cooking session and we will return to our kitchen just a few minutes walking from the market. Once there we will be ready to roll up our sleeves and start cooking. We will finish eating everything we have prepared with a glass of local wine, red or white, is up to you. Are you in? (min 2 people) The experience is about feeling as a guest not as a tourist. You will learn about the Galician gastronomic culture from a local point of view. We will visit the most famous food market in town and Pencil & Fork will buy the fresh products we will need to cook our lunch all together in our cozy kitchen. We had a fun group. Our Hosts were wonderful. The food was terrific—eight delicious courses. It's a must-try. I highly recommend it.

Great memory for short A Coruna stay

I’m in A Coruna for two days and felt this would be a great way to meet some locals, meet travelers from other places, learn about the area and just enjoy. It was a total pleasure to experience David and Anna’s warm hospitality and cooking lesson. Irish, German and me the American made a lovely group. Much fun.

There isn’t enough character spaces to comment on how great this was. Ana & David were amazing hosts with so much attention to detail and a passion behind their mission of teaching elements of Spanish cooking by teaching not just how but why. The paella event was a blast and so much delicious food for the group to enjoy. The market walk was very informative and made you feel like you were a local. One of our attendees has a fish allergy and they completely went above & beyond making a non-fish based option with even special broth to ensure their experience was equally memorable in making their own paella & being part of the entire experience. Ana & David are great, their place is super cute and I would 100% frequent them regularly if I lived in La Coruña. 10 stars + fireworks. Will highly recommend to others.

David and Ana were perfect hosts and made this a fun and delicious experience. They are so welcoming as well as their adorable shop and event space. I appreciate how helpful (and patient) they were in helping us navigate the train from another city.
