Overview

Explore the Mountain of the Olympian Gods and see the top attractions of Pieria in a full day trip. Visit the Archaeological Park of Dion, which is the most important archeological site at Mt Olympus. In the area comprised by the archaeological park of Dion Sanctuaries, where found from Hellenistic and Roman periods. Afterwards, at Enipeas ravine discover the Monastery of Saint Dionysius. Dion Archaeological Park

The Archaeological Park of Dion is the most important archaeological site at Mount Olympus in Greece, located in Dion (Greek: Δίον). In the area comprised by the Archaeological Park of Dion, sanctuaries were found from the Hellenistic and Roman periods. The park displays the importance of ancient Dion in the history of Pieria.

St. Dionysius of Olympus

The Monastery of Agios Dionysios in Olympus is a Greek Orthodox monastery on the slopes of Mount Olympus, the most important monastery in the Pieria Prefecture. It is located at the Enipeas ravine at an altitude of 850 m The original monastery, established in 1542, was destroyed by the Germans in 1943. Nearby, there is the cave of Saint Dionysius.

Great Day on Mount Olympus

I was traveling with my 88 year old mother. Having a private guide and driver was great as he adapted to her walking ability. Because it was tailored to us, my mom could do more and take her time. We made the walk to the waterfall on Mt Olympus and she was really happy she could still do a walk like that with our assistance. The drive and attractions were all great. I do wish we got more of the stories as we were on Mount Olympus after all. A little more mythology would have been nice, but it was a fun and informative day nonetheless.

Went with Dimitris to Dion and Olympus, a nice experience. He knew the area well, took me to the spots worth seeing, and he offered me water and snacks.Car was clean and his driving was comfortable.The archeological place of Dion was amazing and the path was very beautiful to walk.If you want to see the area properly, I recommend it.

George was our tour guide. He was incredibly engaging, friendly and knowledgeable. Trip ran right on time and he knew all of the best places to stop. Honestly, by the end of the tour I felt like we had spent the day with a good friend. I would, without ANY hesitation at all, recommend this trip if you want to see the spectacular sights and soak in the history and pastoral countryside of Greece.

Our guide, Kostas Papastathis was fabulous! He was incredibly knowledgeable, and answered all of our questions in great detail. He also provided us with the names of several books that he thought we might like based on our questions. He really went above and beyond, especially with regard to my son who has a deep interest in Greek mythology. Easily the best day of our trip to Greece!
