Overview

The American Prohibition Museum, located in Savannah's City Market, is the first and only museum in the United States dedicated to the history of Prohibition. While here, self-guided guests will travel back in time to the early 1900s, as anti-alcohol rallies swept the nation and the “booze problem” was pushed to the forefront of American politics. The true story of America’s struggle with the liquor question, the passing of the 18th Amendment, its impact on the nation, and the far-reaching consequences of the 13 years of Prohibition all come to life within the walls of the American Prohibition Museum. Upgrade to the Guided Tour Option or the Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option. Each will give you a fully guided 45-minute tour. The Guided Tour option also includes a period-accurate cocktail or mocktail. The Guided Tour & Cocktail Experience option includes a bartending experience in our speakeasy tasting an Old Fashioned and MAKING a Bees Knees!

Something fun to do in Savannah

Published on Jan, 2025

Great experience, lots of information and fun facts. Having a cocktail as I walked around reading about prohibition was really fun

Don’t pass it up!

This was one of the coolest museums! We had some time to kill during the day and thought it sounded fun to check out. We did the self guided tour as we wanted to go through it at our own pace. From the second we walked in, we were entranced by the history, interactiveness, and fun the museum brought. Artifacts, videos, newspapers, pictures and more captured the prohibition time in such a captivating way. The museum was laid out to bring you full circle to today’s drinking laws. We ended at the bar and the wonderful bartender made delicious drinks to top off our tour. Whether or not you’re a history buff or know much about prohibition, this museum is a piece of history you don’t want to miss out on. Would recommend it to anyone visiting Savannah!
