Our group of four booked the four-day custom Aurora Tour. Our guide, Sara, was amazing! Reasons we liked Sara so much:
• On time.
• Patient, kind, flexible.
• Knowledgeable about auroras, local geography and indigenous people.
• Expert guidance without being pushy.
• Great communicator, always listening to make sure we were satisfied.
• Offered clear expectations and options for viewing locations and how long we wanted to stay out viewing each night.
• Photography expert.
• Good sense of humor!
• Made sure our gear was comfortable and appropriate for conditions.
Our Lights over Lapland holiday was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. We selected excursions, including a day at the phenomenal Ice Hotel, a snowmobile tour, and a wildlife and nature hike. The house was very comfortable and was stocked with more than enough good food. We enjoyed a late afternoon sauna several times after being outside much of the day. Sara helped us locate and view the aurora each night of our trip.
Side tip--since we were coming a long way from Seattle and Chicago, we elected to stay in Stockholm for 3 days before heading up to Kiruna/Abisko. It was wonderful to get to see the sights and tastes of Stockholm. (Vasa Museum is a must-see). Lights over Lapland suggested we stay at the Nordic Lights Hotel which is next to the train station and in the heart of the city. It was an excellent choice for us. And we stayed at the Clarion Arlanda Hotel on our final night in Stockholm. It's connected to the airport, so you can just walk from your gate to the hotel without going outside.
In a word--GO! We will always cherish our incredible memories in this "leap of faith" trip. Lights over Lapland did an extraordinary job making sure our vacation was the best it could be.
